Con la proclamación de la República, la extrema derecha españolista de Barcelona es borrada del mapa. En pocos días, los ultraespañolistas pasan de vivir en una Dictadura, a tener que actuar en una República que ataca tres de sus pilares: la monarquía, la religión y el Estado unitario. Ni el RCD Español tendrá ya la importancia que había tenido como vehículo de expresión política. Ya no levantarán cabeza hasta 1939. Esta obra estudia el devenir de esos colectivos reaccionarios, fascistizados y fascistas de la ciudad de Barcelona entre dos fracasos, el del 14 de abril de 1931 y su derrota en las urnas, y el del 19 de julio de 1936 y su derrota en las calles. Por sus páginas transitan alfonsinos, carlistas, albiñanistas, jonsistas, falangistas y un largo etcétera de militantes de la extrema derecha. Se analiza ese microcosmos ultra barcelonés, lo que permite conocer las trayectorias vitales de algunos de sus componentes, la historia de la miríada de grupos y grupúsculos españolistas que se hacen y deshacen alrededor de algún líder efímero y cómo actuaba esa minoría marginal en un contexto político y social adverso. Estamos, pues, ante una aproximación desde la historia al mundo de la ultraderecha barcelonesa durante la Segunda República.
