«¿Dónde está aquel hombre que en los días y en las noches del destierro erraba por el mundo como un perro y decía que Nadie era su nombre?» Dónde está Odiseo, los héroes, las historias míticas, se pregunta Borges en su poema «Odisea, libro vigésimo tercero», y una posible respuesta es que están –o por lo menos se pretende buscarlos– en esos textos breves de Marco Denevi, Luisa Valenzuela, Ana María Shua y de una serie de otros autores, que hace unos 30 años recibieron carta de identidad al surgir como género independiente en la crítica literaria. Se trata del género de la minificción (microrrelato o minicuento) que abarca una inmensidad de textos de muy diversa índole y que ha sido muy productivo a finales del siglo pasado y comienzos del XXI en muchas literaturas, pero especialmente en la argentina. El presente libro se dedica a una modalidad textual, dentro de este género, en la cual hay un diálogo explícito con la tradición cultural: con historias de la mitología grecolatina, cuentos populares, pasajes bíblicos, así como con textos canónicos de la literatura universal. Pero no sólo se trata de reflexionar sobre este fenómeno con la ayuda de los textos literarios y de trazar el proceso de formación de esta modalidad textual desde sus posibles antecedentes de la literatura universal (como Baudelaire, Kafka, o el mismo Borges, para mencionar sólo los más importantes) hasta sus representantes contemporáneos, sino también de buscar posibles respuestas a las siguientes preguntas: ¿a qué se debe la moda de estos textos?, ¿cuáles son las dudas, preguntas y planteamientos que incitan a los escritores a volver a escribir historias que ya habían sido escritas? Lo que ofrecen este tipo de reescrituras y falsificaciones es, en realidad, una especie de disturbatory art que en un caso ideal representa una forma de arte que asume lo que es, una lectura de la cultura, del pasado, de la tradición: desmitificación y homenaje al mismo tiempo.
