Cet ouvrage analyse la problematique identitaire associee a la litterature canadienne d'expression francaise ( litterature quebecoise ). Il etudie cette question a travers deux uvres, la premiere ecrite par un ecrivain dit de souche, et la seconde, creee par un auteur arabe migrant, emigre au Quebec. Il cherche a demontrer en quoi le contexte d'ecriture particulier du Quebec favorise l'exploration de cet enjeu, en mettant en evidence un statut qui rappelle celui de l'exile. L'analyse de la recherche identitaire a travers deux uvres representant des parcours differents permet non seulement de conferer au territoire quebecois un statut favorable a la mise en relief d'une quete identitaire, mais aussi de demontrer comment la nouvelle litterature quebecoise, immigrante, a contribue a reaffirmer ce questionnement de n'etre plus "ni d'ici, ni d'ailleurs."

The different contributions of this body of work attemp to demonstrate that the concept of diaspora (exile) has acquired a renewed currency among scholars by examining that to be in exile, at least in some way, is to live a disjoint life.
