The story is about a young man named Jacob Roberts, who joins an elite military grade organization and stops a deadly biologically weaponized virus attack from General Kang, who is spreading it throughout the world. When Jacob attends High School with his best friend Dillon, they become friends with a girl named Ivy, and her best friend Avira, who has twin brothers Ari and Augustin. While Jacob is in school he also stays connected with Greta, his elderly neighbor's grandchild and first love from the United Kingdom. Jacob finishes his military training a couple of years later and joins a pilot project funded in conjunction with thee other Government's in England. Ivy falls ill before the squad's departure to focus on a Jemaah Islamiyah Group's act of violence stationed in Jakarta, Indonesia. The squad arrives and they align with a ghost agent named Zagi who helps them intervene on the JI Group's activity. The squad is led to the discovery of a weaponized virus, fronted by General Kang, whom the JI Group are trying to steal the virus from. The squad determines the virus is spread through the use of contaminated hosts, long-range migratory water fowl and kidnapped test subjects from Japan that the General has released back into society. Jacob finds the cure Kang intended to use and leaves Indonesia to report the findings back to his Headquarters. Returning to England, Jacob realizes Ivy has been infected with the virus. It becomes a race against time to save his friend and stop a potential world disaster from occurring.

Twentieth-century China has been caught between a desire to increase its wealth and power in line with other advanced nations, which, by implication, means copying their institutions, practices and values, whilst simultaneously seeking to preserve China’s independence and historically formed identity. Over time, Chinese philosophers, writers, artists and politicians have all sought to reconcile these goals and this book shows how this search for a Chinese way penetrated even the most central, least contested area of modernity: science. Reviving Ancient Chinese Mathematics is a study of the life of one of modern China’s most admired scientific figures, the mathematician Wu Wen-Tsun. Negotiating the conflict between progress and tradition, he found a path that not only ensured his political and personal survival, but which also brought him renown as a mathematician of international status who claimed that he stood outside the dominant western tradition of mathematics. Wu Wen-Tsun’s story highlights crucial developments and contradictions in twentieth -century China, the significance of which extends far beyond the field of mathematics. On one hand lies the appeal of radical scientific modernity, "mechanisation" in all its forms, and competitiveness within the international scientific community. On the other is an anxiety to preserve national traditions and make them part of the modernisation project. Moreover, Wu’s intellectual development also reflects the complex relationship between science and Maoist ideology, because his turn to history was powered by his internalisation of certain aspects of Maoist ideology, including its utilitarian philosophy of science. This Element aims to explore how the relation between societal organisation and legal orders – the question of materiality – has been investigated in philosophy of law. The starting point of the Element is that such relation has often been left invisible or thematised in poor and reductive terms. After having explained the main reasons behind this neglect, the Element provides an overview of the three main approaches to legal philosophy whose contributions, though not always effective, can still provide some insights for a contemporary analysis of legal orders' materiality: materialism, legal institutionalism, and the new materialism. The last section of the Element suggests looking for a footing for the study of materiality in two fields: the metaphysics of relations and the political economy of legal orders.
