O livro A gestão empreendedora em educação: transformando escolas boas em excelentes e os desafios das redes de ensino vem preencher uma lacuna importante no atual momento de discussão sobre os rumos da educação no país: a gestão empreendedora em educação e seus resultados. A educação em geral é discutida sob dois aspectos: o da sala de aula e o das grandes políticas educacionais. Nesta linha, fica a impressão de que, definidas estas áreas de ação, o chão da escola e as leis e regras norteadoras, o resto simplesmente acontece. Ao diretor e aos coordenadores cabem apenas a elaboração do planejamento do calendário escolar e do projeto pedagógico, que se resume, em geral, a uma proposta filosófica da escola, e praticamente comum a todas as outras. O livro vem retratar e exemplificar a ação de gestão, de planejamento estratégico na ação escolar e os consequentes resultados obtidos. Para embasar esta questão, são descritas três experiências vividas na linha da gestão: a primeira na capital do Rio de Janeiro (IST-Rio), a segunda no interior do estado do Rio de Janeiro (CPTI-Petrópolis) e a terceira na esfera da Diretoria de Ensino Superior (DESUP), todas no âmbito da Rede FAETEC. Em cada caso são descritas a memória do processo de gestão, as lições aprendidas e de reflexões sobre a ação gestora. Na memória são registrados os momentos que ilustram a ação gestora. Nas lições aprendidas, as ações e seus resultados frente à teoria administrativa, sempre com uma referência básica de análise para discussão. Nas reflexões, propostas das quais podemos nos apropriar para melhorar a escola. No “pano de fundo”, a importância da gestão no processo escolar, as nuances de gestão em uma escola tanto na capital como no interior e a questão da gestão em uma rede de ensino. Ao final, é apresentada a questão da ênfase da tecnologia da escola, alguns princípios de ação na área de gestão da escola e uma proposta de reforma estrutural da escola para a valorização do ensino. Lastreando o processo de gestão, os registros nas escolas do SESI-RJ, no ensino básico, e em ações no ensino superior, especificamente em escolas como a UFABC e Unifesp e o Instituto Mauá. Estes são bons exemplos de modelos de gestão, gestão educacional inovadora e de gestores que estão pensando o futuro hoje e aqui no país. Ao longo do caminho da prática gestora, referências contemporâneas de pesquisadores em gestão e a apropriação destes conhecimentos para mudar via gestão a escola. Podemos mudar! A gestão empreendedora em educação é o caminho para esta mudança.
