Al-Wafi is a well-known Arabic book on the commentary of forty ḥadīths compiled by the great jurist and ḥadīth scholar Imam Abu Zakariyya Yaḥya ibn Sharaf al-Nawawi, commonly known as al-Nawawi or Imam Nawawi (d. 676 AH). The book is widely used in schools and religious classes. It has been translated into several languages and this is the first published English version. It is authored by two of Damascus' internationally well-known and respected scholars, Shaykh Mustafa Dib Al-Bugha and Shaykh Muhyi Ad-Din Dib Mistu. Both are esteemed professors in the field of Islamic knowledge and authors of several critically acclaimed books. This book is ideal for those who wish to read for personal edification as well as those who would like to conduct classes. Every ḥadīth is followed by a detailed explanation of its importance, its vocabulary, followed by its fiqh rulings, along with other insights that can be gleaned from it. It is hoped that as the reader reads through the text, his understanding and appreciation of the Prophet's words ﷺ will deepen, and he will also come to see the immense wisdom in Imam an-Nawawi's choices. If Allah so wills, the reader will emerge with a broader and more thorough understanding of Islam itself.

Forty Rooms written by Olga Grushin and has been published by Penguin this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-02-16 with Fiction categories.

The internationally acclaimed author of The Dream Life of Sukhanov now returns to gift us with Forty Rooms, which outshines even that prizewinning novel. Totally original in conception and magnificently executed, Forty Rooms is mysterious, withholding, and ultimately emotionally devastating. Olga Grushin is dealing with issues of women’s identity, of women’s choices, that no modern novel has explored so deeply. “Forty rooms” is a conceit: it proposes that a modern woman will inhabit forty rooms in her lifetime. They form her biography, from childhood to death. For our protagonist, the much-loved child of a late marriage, the first rooms she is aware of as she nears the age of five are those that make up her family’s Moscow apartment. We follow this child as she reaches adolescence, leaves home to study in America, and slowly discovers sexual happiness and love. But her hunger for adventure and her longing to be a great poet conspire to kill the affair. She seems to have made her choice. But one day she runs into a college classmate. He is sure of his path through life, and he is protective of her. (He is also a great cook.) They drift into an affair and marriage. What follows are the decades of births and deaths, the celebrations, material accumulations, and home comforts—until one day, her children grown and gone, her husband absent, she finds herself alone except for the ghosts of her youth, who have come back to haunt and even taunt her. Compelling and complex, Forty Rooms is also profoundly affecting, its ending shattering but true. We know that Mrs. Caldwell (for that is the only name by which we know her) has died. Was it a life well lived? Quite likely. Was it a life complete? Does such a life ever really exist? Life is, after all, full of trade-offs and choices. Who is to say her path was not well taken? It is this ambiguity that is at the heart of this provocative novel.

Not Under Forty written by Willa Cather and has been published by Knopf this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-03 with Literary Collections categories.

For Willa Cather, "the world broke in two in 1922 or thereabouts." The whole legacy of Western civilization stood on the far side of World War I, and in the spiritually impoverished present she looked back to that. To that she directed readers of these essays, declaring that anyone under forty years old would not be interested in them. But she was wrong: since its first publication in 1936, Not Under Forty has appealed to readers of all ages who share Cather's concern for excellence, for what endures, in literature and in life.

‘Forty is a fine age, a young, strong powerful, prime-of-life age, a frisky age, a coming-to-maturity age when all things are possible. But beware, it is also an apocalyptic number, a number full of climactic warnings' - Margaret Drabble. 40 is a truly meaningful and fascinating number. For example, the number forty is used in Jewish, Christian, Islamic, and other Middle Eastern traditions to represent a large, approximate number: ‘umpteen’; forty is the number of weeks for an average term of pregnancy; forty is the customary number of hours in a working week; rain fell for ‘forty days and forty nights’ during the Flood; forty is the only number with its letters in alphabetical order; Jesus fasted for forty days and nights . . . Inspired by 40, this collection contains thrilling contributions from some of the most high-profile writers, artists and illustrators of our time and is beautifully illustrated by Tom Gauld. And to celebrate Canongate’s 40th anniversary you can have this fantastic little eBook for free! It’s on us! Enjoy... Through the difficult days of Indonesia's authoritarianism, in the face of violence, through the euphoria of democratic transition, and ensuing disillusionment, one Indonesian writer has never lost faith in the act of writing. Goenawan Mohamad is an activist, journalist, editor, essayist, poet, commentator, theatre director and playwright. These essays, translated by his long-time collaborator Jennifer Lindsay, reveal a vision both uniquely Indonesian and completely universal.
