English description: This prayer book was painted and written in the Middle-Rhine area in the late 12th century. It is outstanding not only because of its multitude of illustrations but also because of their high quality and their particular iconography. German description: Unter den mittelalterlichen Gebetbuchern zeichnet sich der "Liber precatorius" der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek, der im spaten 12. Jahrhundert am Mittelrhein entstanden ist, sowohl durch die Fulle seiner Illustrationen als auch durch deren ausserordentliche Qualitat und ikonographische Besonderheit aus. 72 Illustrationen begleiten die einzelnen Gebete. Einige der Darstellungen illustrieren alttestamentliche Szenen aus der Zeit von der Erschaffung der Welt bis zu den Zehn Geboten, andere beziehen sich auf neutestamentliche Ereignisse, die durch ein Bild des Jungsten Gerichts abgeschlossen werden. Angesichts der Bedeutung der Gebete, deren Sammlung mit Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179) in Verbindung steht, und der auf diese Gebete bezogenen einzigartigen Bilderfolge stellt die Faksimilisierung der Handschrift seit langem ein dringendes Desiderat der Forschung dar.
