Ausgewahlte Texte von Platon bis zur Gegenwart, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der Begriff Schonheit ist heute allgegenwartig. Im Fernsehen, auf Plakaten und im Privatleben der Menschen spielt dieser Ausdruck eine zunehmend groe Rolle. Bereits Kinder wollen einem Schonheitsideal gleichen. Erwachsene Frauen wie Manner pilgern ins Fitnessstudio, um ihre Korper zu trainieren und somit diesem Ideal naher zu kommen. Wird heute die -Charakterisierung -schon- als auf einen bestimmten Modus der vergegenwartigten Bedurfnislage selbst- bezogenen Begriff bezeichnet, war die Idee der Schonheit doch bereits in der Antike geboren. Schon ca. 550 v. Chr. hatte Pythagoras eine Vorstellung davon, was Schonheit sein sollte, namlich, dass -Ordnung und Proportionen schon und nutzbringend- sind. Zwei der groten Denker des Abendlandes - namentlich Platon und sein Schuler Aristoteles -- haben eine differenziertere Ansicht vom Begriff der Schonheit. Ihre Auffassung lasst sich nicht einfach, wie die des Pythagoras, durch eine Zahl ausdrucken. Sie haben wesentlich anspruchsvollere Definitionen geschaffen und obschon Aristoteles ein Schuler Platons war, hat er eine gegensatzliche Auffassung von Schonheit. Ihre jeweilige Position soll in dieser Hausarbeit beleuchtet werden. Um dieses jedoch leisten zu konnen, wird zuvor der Blick auf deren Vorganger gerichtet. Dadurch lasst sich der Begriff der Schonheit klarer einteilen. Ebenso wird auf diejenigen geachtet, welche sich nach Aristoteles ebenso zur Schonheit auerten.
