Este é livro é fruto de uma experiência de sala de aula pautada no objetivo de reativar nas juventudes o poder da vida, problematizar a noção do cuidado de si, segundo Michel Foucault, com esperança de contribuir para pensar o ensino de Filosofia como um lugar onde se aprenda a cuidar e onde se aprenda a fazer da própria vida uma obra de arte. Por isso, no primeiro momento, buscamos, por meio de recortes, entender o contexto de formação da Filosofia como componente curricular na história da Educação no Brasil até sua efetivação no currículo nos dias atuais com a Lei no 13.415/2017. No segundo momento, buscamos conhecer e apresentar a gênese do cuidado de si e suas práticas, para que, por fim, no terceiro momento, pudéssemos, por meio da tertúlia dialógica, estabelecer uma interação entre o ensino de Filosofia com a teoria do cuidado de si, de Foucault, e, assim, produzir alguns ensaios e experiências filosóficas em sala que possibilitassem descolamento, uma transformação de si, isto é, uma modificação dos modos de agir no mundo e de nos relacionarmos com ele, o que não designa simplesmente um voltar a atenção para si, mas, a partir dessa mesma atenção, sobretudo, um modificar-se, para existir e resistir às imposições socioeconômicas, educacionais, morais, culturais e, assim, contribuirmos para criar um novo sujeito, um novo ensino, uma nova escola e, consequentemente, um novo mundo.

This book builds upon Stephen J Ball's previous work in the field of education policy analysis. It subjects the ongoing reforms in UK education to a rigorous critical interrogation. It takes as its main concerns the introduction of market forces, managerialism and the National Curriculum into the organization of schools and the work of teachers. Ball argues that these reforms are combining to fundamentally reconstruct the work of teaching, to generate and ramify multiple inequalities and to destroy civic virtue in education. The effects of the market and management are not technical and neutral but are essentially political and moral. The reforms taking place in the UK are both a form of cultural and social engineering and an attempt to recreate a fantasy education based upon myths of national identity, consensus and glory. The analysis is founded within policy sociology and employs both ethnographic and post-structuralist methods.

The process of curriculum development is highly practical, as Goodson shows in this enlarged anniversary third edition of his seminal work. The position of subjects and their development within the curriculum is illustrated by looking at how school subjects, in particular, geography and biology, gained academic and intellectual respectability within the whole curriculum during the late 1960s and early 1970s. He highlights how subjects owe their formation and accreditation to competing status and their power to compete in the provision of 'worthwhile' knowledge and considers subjects as continually changing sub-groups of information. Such subjects from the framework of the society in which individuals live and over which they have influence. This volume questions the basis on which subject disciplines are developed and formulates new possibilities for curriculum development and reform in a post-modrnist age.
