Durch diese Zugangsweise lassen sich die verschiedenen eschatologischen Motive als Teil einer systematischen Aufforderung des Verfassers an eine Gemeinde verstehen, die einen Konflikt zu bestehen hat.Luckensmeyer verdeutlicht die Eschatologie als den besten hermeneutischen Schlüssel, um die systematischen Aspekte des Briefes zu interpretieren. Es besteht kein Zweifel: Eschatologische Motive sind im Überfluss vorhanden, etwa in 1,9–10; 2,13–16; 4,13–18 oder 5,1–11. Der Frage, auf welche Weise diese Motive die Absichten des Paulus in seinem Schreiben verdeutlichen, widmet sich Luckensmeyer ganz besonders. Die Zahl der Polemiken gegen das geistliche Spiel des Mittelalters nahm im konfessionellen Zeitalter deutlich zu. Dennoch brach diese Spieltradition, insbesondere im süddeutschen Raum, mit Luthers Auftreten nicht gänzlich ab. Auch protestantische Dramenautoren beschäftigten sich mit den zentralen Ereignissen des Heilsgeschehens und brachten selbst das Leiden, Sterben und Auferstehen Jesu Christi auf die Bühne. In Augsburg wurde 1565 im städtischen Tanzhaus das Passions- und Osterspiel des einheimischen Meistersingers Sebastian Wild aufgeführt. Durch die Drucklegung (1566) konnte sich eine nachhaltige Wirkung entfalten, die auch das katholische Volksschauspiel im bairisch-österreichischen Raum erfasste. Literaturgeschichtliche Beachtung verdient das Bühnenstück insbesondere als eine wichtige Textvorlage des ältesten Oberammergauer Passionsspiels von 1662.

As the first historical study of East Germany‘s sepulchral culture, this book explores the complex cultural responses to death since the Second World War. Topics include the interrelated areas of the organization and municipalization of the undertaking industry; the steps taken towards a socialist cemetery culture such as issues of design, spatial layout, and commemorative practices; the propagation of cremation as a means of disposal; the wide-spread introduction of anonymous communal areas for the internment of urns; and the emergence of socialist and secular funeral rituals. The author analyses the manifold changes to the system of the disposal of the dead in East Germany—a society that not only had to negotiate the upheaval of military defeat but also urbanization, secularization, a communist regime, and a planned economy.
