My poems come from my journey in life experience from one of the eleven children in Mississippi, to joining the US Marine Corp at seventeen years old during the Vietnam war era and after spending 13 months of overseas duty, I was honorable discharge after my return, as a young man I began to use alcohol as a substance, to deal with that experience and the social ills of that era and it lingered, became a problem later on in life. I began to write poetry as a emotional outlet to ease the pain of my journey to sobriety, which has been fifteen years now. I know the journey is not over but the road is smoother now. That's why I am sharing my pain, my victories, my joy and laughter with you for the veterans suffering with PTSD, anyone dealing with depression, anxiety or mental issues or a bad relationship, a rough day at work, a bad hair day, waiting in the doctor's office to see what the Xray says. After reading a poem, I want you to say that Joseph Theophilus Lowe is that poet, who made me throw that tissue away and put a smile on my face and made my day. Perhaps some words people cannot understand. This is a personal collection of my own expressions. There are those who get me and what I write. There are those who cannot figure me out at all. It's all in how one interprets. But an open mind is key upon reading this. I really do not want a style. I want all styles. I want to wear each poem differently in the aspects of doing it all natural. I believe I accomplished that. My poetry education is life. The good the bad, the ugly just every dream every opinion. Just everything that I can express. Even when I read my own work I think of ways to be better. To feel better, To stretch the imagination as far as I can take it. To express these true feelings to words. See an introvert like me finds it so easy to let it all out in poetry, Stanza after stanza, Form after form. Just sharing my muse the best that I can. The influences, Experiences, it all. And some eccentric thoughts as well. Just a bevy of words that have helped me be who I am today and who I shall be tomorrow. Personalized, Visualized. I always want to surprise myself by going that extra level. Personal level of what I want to do as an artist. To reflections. To a need to let it all out. I always wondered if I had the confidence at a young age where would I be right now? But the thing is life is a history lesson. What I write even teaches me. Where I was, Who I was with. How I was in the many aspects of my life. All in all I just love to write. I took a break from it and it sure gave me the riot act, I mean I wrote and wrote each poem just went on and on and on. It hit me and I was glad it did. But it sure gets tiring after awhile as the mind gets to where it never wants to stop, Luckily it has helped me so much helped me so very much. I try to stay true to the art itself. Respect it with gratitude that my muse gives me wings to fly wherever I want to fly. Landing in each venture and as I delve into the many aspects for which comes to me. And those who have come before me. Wrote such timeless pieces and paved the way for poetry I am grateful of them and the art that I cherish to strongly. The likes of Poe, Plath, Frost, Byron I could go on and on and on. And of course Poe is a genius in his stories and of course his poems. Music has been a great part of me as well. Nirvana, Alice in chains, Iron Maiden. I could go on and on and on. But I a poet who loves music but loves writing poetry. To inspire, To tell those they are not alone. To inspire myself that I am not alone. To brave every storm as Poetry is my guide to medicate myself naturally with the grace of expression. expressions really. Just all in all honor and willpower. I mean it does come at a price like in the form of lack of sleep from time to time. But it is all worth it. Oh, And no anyone reading this I have not written a bad poem about you. Or have I? Ha, I just as a introvert want to challenge myself to get out of my comfort zone and stay that. With poetry I feel I do that. In life, Well that is a whole different story. Call me different, Call me what you will I am embrace who I am and with poetry it helps me so much. A very underrated art in my view. Check the typo on the back of the book.

According to how you feel at the time you pick up the book to read it. I am certain you will thumb through the pages and say to yourself, I like this one or that one. Just remember that any poem or prose you choose it is definitely up to your liking. You will enjoy them all but everyone has a favorite. I expressed many emotions and feelings in this book concerning the poetry and prose enclosed. You will find poems and prose of, love, romance, humor, spiritual enlightenment, poems and prose for just a little food for thought. On the spiritual side of it all I must say that the prose, Just One More Soul is one of my best works. It deals with the lost soul and how you must seek God for yourself. There is also, A Penny for Your Thoughts quite controversial yet it leads you to a higher power as one would say reminding you in the process of course there is only one true God. If you would go deeper into the book and study it carefully I am certain that you are going to run across what I consider a little food for thought a prose I have written titled, My Shoes, My Bed, My Table if you really have a heart ticking in your body once you finish this one prose I am certain you will become more involved in what is taking place with those who are in need of assistance. Not just the homeless but the widows, orphans and strangers who you turn your backs on daily. I Cry from the Womb is based on the awareness all mothers should have due to their ability to bring life into this world, a child crying for their mothers protection (sensitive and touching). Although I do not consider myself to be a controversial writer I understand that some of my work does take some people into deep thought(meaning critics) and will cause them to think otherwise. I must state because of my love for all mankind I only write what I know to be factual and true, what I have experienced and what I have researched in order that the truth does not get distorted. Prose like The Whip, An Unpaid Debt, The Dim Light of Justice and a few others may spark a few thoughts concerning your creed, color or religious background. I state it is time for a positive change to occur and if my work begins to reopen the doors of concern for everyone to put their cards on the table and show their hands then there is not a need to vote.
