La tercera parte, "Crítica y análisis", ofrece una explicación sobre la función de la crítica de la investigación histórica y las técnicas de análisis para las fuentes de información. El objetivo de la exposición es ofrecer herramientas y técnicas de la denominada "crítica de fuentes" y del "análisis hermenéutico"; en especial para el estudio y crítica de documentación escrita primaria, secundaria y digital, así como para materiales audiovisuales, en particular la pintura, la fotografía y el cine. La cuarta parte, "fundamentos historiográficos", ofrece una comprensión sucinta de las principales corrientes de la historiografía occidental y sus aportes en la profesionalización y avance epistemológico de la disciplina. Como el título lo indica se trata de un conocimiento de fundamentación disciplinar, más extenso que las otras partes del libro debido a su naturaleza empírico-descriptiva. Esta parte se centra en el historicismo, el marxismo, y la escuela de Annales, toma en cuenta los historiadores y aportes más relevantes, que son vistos en su conjunto desde la perspectiva de su propio contexto académico e histórico. La quinta parte, "Escritura, proyectos y fuentes", es un esbozo sobre los distintos tipos de producción y difusión escrita realizados en la disciplina, seguido de un instructivo para el diseño y elaboración de proyectos de investigación, y una introducción al componente empírico del trabajo histórico, en especial para la exploración y búsqueda de fuentes secundarias y primarias.

El presente estudio analiza el car cter de proceso de la representaci n hist rica que empieza con un mundo universal e inconcreto en Cien a os de soledad, se acerca concretamente a Latinoam rica en El general en su laberinto, y acaba en la realidad colombiana con Noticia de un secuestro. Adem s, este estudio enfoca los elementos hist ricos y sus diferentes niveles de significado en las tres novelas, y analiza entre otros por qu Garc a M rquez desmitifica a Sim n Bol var, el h roe m?'s grande de Am rica Latina, o por qu humaniza a Pablo Escobar y los sicarios. Se har un an lisis de los elementos que utiliza el autor colombiano para hacernos creer su visi n de la historia. En las tres novelas el autor reconstruye la realidad a trav?'s de textos y m todos espec ficos. Se investigar con cu les finalidades Garc a M rquez nos representa la historia de esas maneras. Qu nos quiere decir al reescribir la historiograf a? No es acaso peligroso que nos quiera mostrar su realidad a trav?'s de estos textos? Y sobre todo, es as de inofensivo tomar sus novelas como ver dicas?
