Istoria filmului românesc (1897-2017) Cea mai tânără dintre arte, la acest hotar de vremi, a acumulat – şi în spaţii româneşti – mai bine de un veac de existenţă şi se pregăteşte pentru veacurile viitoare. Din bogata documentaţie avută la îndemână, am selectat, aşadar, nu numai din considerente formale (fiind imposibil de strâns între coperţile unei asemenea cărţi, documentaţia a zeci şi zeci de volume), ci, în primul rând, din considerente de fond, cele mai importante evenimente şi momente petrecute pe spirala evolutivă, cu urcușuri şi coborâşuri, cu lumini şi umbre, a filmului românesc. Am utilizat cu precădere fişele propriului meu curs de istoria filmului – pe care l-am susţinut, la sfârşitul anilor ’60, la Institutul de Artă Teatrală şi Cinematografică şi pe care l-am susţinut, ulterior, mai bine de două decenii, la diferite universităţi de stat sau particulare, la Facultatea de Arte „Geo Saizescu” de la Universitatea „Hyperion”, la Universitatea Naţională de Artă Teatrală şi Cinematografică, la Universitatea europeană „Columna” –, precum şi studii, articole, cronici de film apărute cu precădere în revista Contemporanul (majoritatea filmelor româneşti din ultimele cinci-şase decenii trecând şi prin cronicile mele din acest ex-hebdomadar, actualmente mensual). Faţă de cercetările anterioare – unele de „uz intern ” – am încercat, prin modul de abordare a filmelor din palmaresul cinematografiei naţionale, să mă adresez nu numai cineaştilor şi, în genere, specialiştilor din lumea artei a şaptea, am căutat să captez interesul unui public cât mai larg de cinefili, ducând istoria filmului românesc, la propriu, cât mai aproape de spectatorii de ieri, de spectatorii de azi şi – de ce nu? – de spectatorii de mâine. / Călin Căliman
