The book describes how a character, starting with virtually no money and absolutely no knowledge of antiques, managed to learn and bit by bit, claw his way up the trade echelon to finally run a massive antique shop on the Welsh Marches. The tale includes door knocking escapades, the odd romantic dalliance, chanced successes, embarrassing failures, the antique ring, local gypsies, the Irish travellers, a court case and even a house clearance in Australia. It is related by a contemporary author, who having chanced on a character with first hand experience of those exciting times, uses the information, plus contacts he provides, to delve back in time, thus revealing the inside story of the antique business, over a period, roughly spanning 1974-2004. All is described with a humorous touch and even though fiction, events are true to the spirit of those times. Interspersed in the story, are little nuggets of local history, anecdotes of an almost Bohemian nature and when able to contact survivors from those years, light hearted banter. An insight is given regarding the difficulty of finding the right stock and how surprisingly narrow, some of the profit margins. Reasons are given, as to why certain things sold, plus how the vast majority that didn't, could potentially clog a business to a standstill. The book describes years of plenty and years of near bankruptcy, while on each rung of the trade ladder, pitfalls and certain individuals intent on blocking an aspiring dealer's progress, awaited. Whether humour or near tragedy, however, both are told in the same matter of fact manner.

Three questions concerning modern legal thought provide the framework for It’s All in the Game: What should judges do? What do judges do? What can judges do? Contrasting his own answers to traditional responses and moving playfully between debates of high theory, daily practices of appellate judges, and his own enlightening analyses of significant court rulings, Allan C. Hutchinson examines what it means to treat adjudication as an engaged game of rhetorical justification. His resulting argument enables the reader to grasp more fully the practical operation, political determinants, and the transformative possibilities of law and adjudication. Taking on leading contemporary theories to explore the claim that “law is politics,” Hutchinson delineates a route toward professional, relevant, and responsible—if radical—judicial practices. The atmosphere experienced by those attending football matches has changed hugely since the 1970s and 80s when racial and other forms of abuse were common. Match attendance has become much more of a family-friendly activity and clubs continue to introduce measures to try to improve the standards of behaviour at matches. However, there remain significant problems ranging from homophobic abuse to what is often described as "laddish behaviour" on the terraces. Transparent and consistent methods for reporting criminal behaviour including racism are still lacking, in particular at grass roots level. The Committee recommends: it should be a priority for the FA to develop procedures for stewards to follow and regular training opportunities to ensure that all relevant staff at club grounds are capable of reacting swiftly and consistently to incidents of abuse; the efforts being made at league and club level to ensure successful prosecutions in cases of racial abuse are extremely welcome; however, it is important that similar efforts are applied to the grassroots game; all appointments should be based on merit alone irrespective of the candidates' race; candidates from ethnic minorities to train as coaches and referees, to ensure that clubs and boards can select from a more diverse pool of recruits
