The account of Joseph that is found in Genesis 37-50 is one of the most well-known stories in the Bible. Its classic rags-to-riches plot explores themes that have intrigued people throughout history: murder, betrayal, sibling rivalry, greed, natural disaster, and mistaken identity. In Inquiring of Joseph, John Kaltner shows there are two ways to tell this story, and both are worth reading. Inquiring of Joseph puts the biblical Joseph in conversation with his Qur'anic self. The Islamic text is a clear parallel to the biblical story in the events of Joseph's life, but there are some important differences between them that result in two distinct versions of the tale. This interface allows for a new understanding of the familiar biblical tradition as aspects that are often missed become more prominent and puzzling elements are seen in a new light. Chapters are "Introduction," "Beginnings: Joseph and his Family (Genesis 37; Qur'an 12:1-20 )," "The Narrators and Characters: Joseph and Potiphar's Wife (Genesis 39:1-20; Qur'an 12:21-34;)," "Events: Joseph and the Prisoners (Genesis 39:21-40:23; Qur'an 12:35-42)," "Repetition: Joseph and Pharaoh (Genesis 41:1-45; Qur'an 12:43-57)," "Gaps: Joseph and His Brother (Genesis 42:1-44:17; Qur'an 12:58-86)," and "Endings: Joseph and His Family (Genesis 44:18-50:21; Qur'an 12:87-101)." Saint Joseph written by Leonardo Boff and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-02-16 with Religion categories.

In Saint Joseph Leonardo Boff seeks to provide a vigorous critique and theological analysis of Saint Joseph and in so doing attempts to undo historical misconceptions, misunderstandings, and cliches that surround the figure of Joseph. The book provides a comprehensive view of the topic as it takes into account biblical references, including the apocrypha, church tradition, papal edicts, liturgical expressions, and various viewpoints proposed by theologians. Boff is also concerned with updating the figure of Saint Joseph; his first step in this direction is to provide a clear understanding of the life of Joseph as an artisan, husband, father, and educator. He then deals with the issue of the importance of Saint Joseph for current issues concerning family and fatherhood. Lastly, Boff argues that Saint Joseph helps us to understand new facets of the mystery of God, and the author does this through his argument concerning the order of hypostatic union, where, according to his argument, there is a relation between Jesus and the Son, Mary and the Holy Spirit, and Joseph and the Father. Boff seeks here to fill a gap in the theological literature, given that theologians have concentrated their efforts on Jesus and the Son and Christology, and Mary and the Holy Spirit and Mariology; but these same theologians have, by and large, given very little time to the figure of Saint Joseph and the Father and Josephology.

Overcoming Woundedness Lessons From The Life Of Joseph written by Sally Meredith and has been published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-03-28 with Religion categories.

Everyone has been wounded. Some wounds recall childhood hurts; some are more recent. They may be personal through family or close friends, or they can be generated by workplace issues with a boss or coworker. No matter where they originate, woundedness is a human malady stemming from our brokenness and it makes us question the very purpose of the hurts we experience. Come along with the author as she takes us into one man's journey of being wounded and how his story affects ours. Joseph was a man, just like us, who experienced the depth of painful circumstances and went on to a height he never dreamed. As we study his life, we learn that God was after his heart, just as He is after ours and mine. Where there is adversity, there is fear. But God desires to transform our fear into faith. He pursues us in the depths of pain in order to bring us to His glory. Even though our hearts have been wounded by people, we have a God who heals our wounds and, through the process of fellowship with Him, shows us His heart.

George Joseph The Life And Times Of A Kerala Christian Nationalist written by George Gheverghese Joseph and has been published by Orient Blackswan this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

This book looks at the life of George Joseph (1887 1938), a South Indian Christian nationalist whose contributions to the Indian freedom struggle have been generally neglected in the literature of the Indian national movement. The book is not a straightforward biography; it attempts to place the subject of the study in the political and social context of modern Indian history but provides personal glimpses of the man and his humanity. Further, the book examines how George Joseph influenced or even initiated debates on issues such as the meaning of secularism in India; the position of religious minorities of India, the reality and extent of the North-South divide and the scope and limits of affirmative action for disadvantaged groups- all issues of great relevance even in today s India.

Yosef's behaviors, interpersonal relationships, and personal development are often difficult to understand and seem to defy explanation. This book presents a coherent and cohesive reading of the well known Bible story that offers a plausible account of Yosef's behaviors, specifically those of an individual on the autism spectrum. Viewed through this lens, Yosef emerges as a more familiar and less enigmatic individual, exhibiting both strengths and weaknesses commonly associated with autism spectrum disorder.
