Voici ce qu'elle eprouvait a chaque paroxysme la douleur attaquait subitement comme un coup de i'oudne, a des heures variees elle affectat d'abord l'os maxillaire et celui de la pom mette s'etendait sur les deux arcades den taires sur toutes les dents superieures et infe rieures du cote droit sur toute la machoire du meme cote depuis la symphyse du menton jusqu'a l'angle de cette machoire; et, a son articulation sur l'oreille externe et interne Sur la tempe sur l'oeil qui se retirait devenait rou e etlarmoyant sur l'aile et toute la par tie roite du nez, sur la partie corre5pongiane 'du front; enfin sur tout le cote droit dela tete depuis la racine du nez en montant sur le vertex et descendant jusqu'au bas de l'oc ciput; de maniere que ette affection parta cait precisement toute la tete en deux se mens egauxc, dont l'un etait douloureux et lautre indolent. Les 'douleurs d'apres la, relation de la malade etaient extremement aigues et pres que intolerables'; elles etaient tantot brulantes tantot dechirantes tantot 'lancinantes. Les acces, pendant, les premiers mois duraient quarante-huit heures consecutives _et ce qu'il y a de singulier ils cessaient precisement a la meme heure ou ils avaient commence, deux jours avant. Pendant ces acces madame J ne pouvait se tenir au lit; elle passait les nuits dans un fauteuil parce que son mal ne _lui per mettait pas d'appuyer sa tete, et ue d'ailleurs en essayant de se coucher, elle, eprouva1t un serrement violent a la gorge. Toutes les parties occupees par la douleur etaient d' une sensi bilite excessive et ne permettaient pas le moin dre attouchement; il y existait un tremousse ment convulsif; toute la face du cote malade devenait rouge; la rougeur'se repandait meme jusque sur le cote sain. Lors ue les acces se terminaient, la disparition de a douleur etait aussi prompte qu'en avait ete l - mvasion. Alors madame pour me servir de ses propres expressions n'etait plus la' meme ersonne il y avait entre sa situation et cel e ou elle avait ete - nu instant avant la meme difference que celle qui existe entre l'etat d'une personne bien portante et celui d'une autre qui est tres malade. Dans les premiers temps, ces'acces ne revenaient que tous les mois et duraient alors, comme je l'ai dit pendant uarance huit heures; ils revinrent ensuite tous esquinze jours mais ils etaient_aussi de la moitie moins longs. Quelques mois apres madame eprouva des acces tous les huit jours, puis tous les'deux jours enfin presque tous les jours. A mesure qu'ils se rapprochaient ils diminu aient proportionnellement errlongueur mais l'intensite la violence de la douleur. Etait toujours la meme.
