Era kontemporer Kekristenan menyingkapkann sifat dan karakter ke-diri-an paguyuban dan patembayan Kekristenan yang terus berevolusi. Namun, berulang kali kerja sama itu dilepeh demi kepentingan terselubung yang ternyata bersifat eksklusif dan egosentrik, serta mengorbankan manusia dan kehidupan. Wujud perjumpaan dua entitas itu kini mengarah pada cakupan yang lebih luas dan mendasar, pada soal-soal dunia, kemanusiaan, dan kemasyarakatan. Dunia ini menuntut corak kerja sama, bukan otoritarianisme dan penguasaan-atas-yang-lain. Jadi, dalam kebersamaan terjadi peristiwa yang memengaruhi, menyentuh, memiliki hubungan, termasuk bumi pertiwi dan semesta alam. Catatan dan pemikiran historis dalam karya ini menyingkapkan banyak hal yang terselubung. Gagasan, cara berpikir, alam pikiran, mental, etos, daya hidup, suasana batin, kesadaran, bahkan élan vital itu dalam era kontemporer Kekristenan menjadi jiwa (Geist) yang terselubung. Dengan begitu, daya tumbuh yang membuahkan kehidupan inilah yang disingkap oleh Kekristenan yang mendunia.
