China And The Islamic World written by Robert R. Bianchi and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-02-01 with Political Science categories.

China is building a New Silk Road that runs through the heartland of the Muslim world, promising it will create integrated economies and stronger ties across Eurasia and Africa. Robert R. Bianchi argues that while China has the financial and technical resources to accomplish its infrastructure goals, it is woefully unprepared to deal with the social and political demands of its partner countries' citizens. China and the Islamic World explores how China's leaders and citizens are learning-through their relationships with Pakistan, Turkey, Indonesia, Iran, Nigeria and Egypt-that they have to respect and adjust to the aspirations of ordinary people throughout the Islamic world, not just cater to the narrow band of government and business elites. Bianchi demonstrates that turbulent countries along the New Silk Road are likely to transform Chinese society at least as much as China changes them. This realization will be deeply unsettling for China's authoritarian rulers, who desperately want to monopolize power domestically. The party and state bosses have responded to challenges with a contradictory blend of flexibility abroad and rigidity at home, compromising with popular demands in one country after another while refusing to negotiate many of the same issues with their own citizens. This book shows how China faces a growing struggle to maintain their double-sided statecraft as it becomes apparent that the New Silk Road is not a one way street.

For decades the partnership between North America and Europe has been a steady anchor in a world of rapid change. Today, however, the transatlantic partnership itself has become unsettled and uncertain. Nowhere is this clearer than in the economic sphere. Nonetheless, the European Union and the United States remain each other’s largest and most profitable markets. And as Europe changes, extended value chains across non-EU Europe have become important to the bottom line of many companies from the United States, Europe, and other parts of the world. Given both the danger of fragmentation and opportunities that exist for deeper economic interaction, it is time to consider new initiatives that include, but go beyond the U.S.-EU partnership to embrace allies and partners across the entire North Atlantic space. The concept of the North Atlantic Marketplace would include non-EU European countries in a broad North Atlantic commercial architecture. Turkey’s evolving commercial ties to the EU and the United States are central to such considerations. In this book, leading experts develop possible ways forward to anchor Turkey in the West by further deepening economic ties between Turkey and its transatlantic partners in the North Atlantic Marketplace.

Gallipoli written by Edward J. Erickson and has been published by Pen and Sword this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-06-19 with History categories.

A “superb new book on the Ottoman perspective of Gallipoli” from the military historian and Gulf War veteran (Great War Forum). The Ottoman Army won a historic victory over the Allied forces at Gallipoli in 1915. This was one of the most decisive and clear-cut campaigns of the Great War. Yet the performance of the Ottomans, the victors, has often received less attention than that of the Allied army they defeated. In this perceptive study, Edward Erickson concentrates on the Ottoman side of the campaign. He looks in detail at the Ottoman Army—its structure, tactics and deployment—and at the conduct of the commanders who served it so well. His pioneering work complements the extensive literature on other aspects of the Gallipoli battle, in particular those accounts that have focused on the experience of the British, Australians and New Zealanders. This highly original reassessment of the campaign will be essential reading for students of the Great War, especially the conflict in the Middle East. “Erickson’s analysis of the battle itself is insightful and detailed and his writing style is extremely engaging and easily maintains the reader’s interest.”—War History Online “This detailed appraisal of the Gallipoli campaign from the victorious Ottoman perspective is essential reading.”—Military Historical Society

Berdal Aral, Filistin’in geleceğini yazdı. Özcan Hıdır, Kudüs ve Mescid-i Aksa’nın önemini kaleme aldı.

Open City written by Tim Rieniets and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009 with Architecture and society categories.

Open City is the theme of the 4th International Architecture Biennial Rotterdam. ‘Open City: Designing Coexistence’ is the publication to accompany this international event, which will be held in Rotterdam from 24 September 2009 to 10 January 2010. The book demonstrates the crucial role that architecture and urban design can play to enable access and facilitate coexistence—to stimulate conditions for an Open City. Accessible city Today, the Open City is a tenuous notion; as our cities grow and diversify, social and cultural groups struggle to coexist, and make conflicting demands on the city’s resources. For many, the opportunities the city promizes are scarce, or unattainable. How can our cities provide access for all in this millenium?. Part 1: Dimensions The Open City does not have latitude or longitude, but it exists in our imagination. In Part 1, writers from different disciplines—sociology, ethnography, geography, law, history, economy, and urban design—map various theoretical dimensions of the Open City and consider the global forces that challenge it. Part 2: Situations The Open City is not a place, but a condition. It has no masterplan; each context requires a distinct approach. Part 2 of this book documents work by international architects, urban designers, and activists who were asked to initiate and implement projects for an Open City in urban situations that are currently in flux.
