China is building a New Silk Road that runs through the heartland of the Muslim world, promising it will create integrated economies and stronger ties across Eurasia and Africa. Robert R. Bianchi argues that while China has the financial and technical resources to accomplish its infrastructure goals, it is woefully unprepared to deal with the social and political demands of its partner countries' citizens. China and the Islamic World explores how China's leaders and citizens are learning-through their relationships with Pakistan, Turkey, Indonesia, Iran, Nigeria and Egypt-that they have to respect and adjust to the aspirations of ordinary people throughout the Islamic world, not just cater to the narrow band of government and business elites. Bianchi demonstrates that turbulent countries along the New Silk Road are likely to transform Chinese society at least as much as China changes them. This realization will be deeply unsettling for China's authoritarian rulers, who desperately want to monopolize power domestically. The party and state bosses have responded to challenges with a contradictory blend of flexibility abroad and rigidity at home, compromising with popular demands in one country after another while refusing to negotiate many of the same issues with their own citizens. This book shows how China faces a growing struggle to maintain their double-sided statecraft as it becomes apparent that the New Silk Road is not a one way street.

For decades the partnership between North America and Europe has been a steady anchor in a world of rapid change. Today, however, the transatlantic partnership itself has become unsettled and uncertain. Nowhere is this clearer than in the economic sphere. Nonetheless, the European Union and the United States remain each other’s largest and most profitable markets. And as Europe changes, extended value chains across non-EU Europe have become important to the bottom line of many companies from the United States, Europe, and other parts of the world. Given both the danger of fragmentation and opportunities that exist for deeper economic interaction, it is time to consider new initiatives that include, but go beyond the U.S.-EU partnership to embrace allies and partners across the entire North Atlantic space. The concept of the North Atlantic Marketplace would include non-EU European countries in a broad North Atlantic commercial architecture. Özcan Hıdır, Kudüs ve Mescid-i Aksa’nın önemini kaleme aldı. Selimhan Yeniacun İsrail toplumunun kırılgan yapısını analiz etti. Haydar Oruç, ABD-İsrail yakınlığını, Hacı Mehmet Boyraz ve Onur Balcı uluslararası toplumun İsrail’e tepkisizliğini, Mustafa Caner ise İslam dünyasının tepkisini ele aldı. AA ve TRT’nin bütün dünyada ses getiren ama İsrail’de büyük rahatsızlık uyandıran haber ve fotoğraflarına Nur Özkan Erbay değindi. İhsan Aktaş Taksim Camii’nin Türk siyasi hayatı için sembolik önemini, Faruk Yazar Cumhurbaşkanlığı İletişim Başkanlığı’nın 1915 olayları ekseninde gerçekleştirdiği kamu diplomasisi faaliyetlerini yazdı. Salgınla mücadelede en etkili silahlardan aşı konusundaki gelinen aşamayı Bingül Satıoğlu analiz etti. Oğuz Güngörmez Avrupa’da aşırı sağın son politik hamlelerini ele alırken Mehmet Akif Memmi yeni çıkan kitapları anlattı.
