Entre altres aspectes, tracta sobre l’evolució del comerç, el problema de les subsistències i la mendicitat; les qüestions fiscals i monetàries; l’evolució de la guerra, les accions militars de l’exèrcit espanyol, sometents i miquelets, i del francès; la situació dels hospitals militars i el nombre de morts; les disputes i divisions entre autoritats civils i militars; el fenomen de la deserció, el bandolerisme i la inseguretat; les noves institucions creades pels «patriotes» i l’administració del govern intrús; els personatges més destacats de la vida política i militar; la propaganda patriota i l’afrancesada; les pràctiques religioses i la situació de l’Església; la vida cultural, el teatre, la premsa i les festes, etc. Aquesta obra es reedita amb motiu del bicentenari de la Guerra del Francès. El llibre incorpora en un CD els set volums, que són de gran interès per als investigadors i estudiosos de la història de Catalunya. Antoni Moliner Prada, professor d’història contemporània de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, és un reconegut expert a escala internacional de la Guerra Peninsular (1807-1814). Ha escrit nombrosos articles en revistes d’història i, amb motiu del bicentenari d’aquesta guerra, ha participat en molts congressos, fòrums, seminaris i col·loquis. Ha estat professor invitat en diferents universitats d’Espanya, Portugal, França, Itàlia i Mèxic.
