India S Energy Security written by Lt Col Vivek Dhall and has been published by Vij Books India Pvt Ltd this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-09-01 with Political Science categories.

This book explores the multifaceted aspects of India's energy security concerns. It sheds light on India's energy insecurity and explores its various dimensions, its nature and extent. It examines the role that trade, foreign and security policy should play in enhancing India's energy security. It is argued that the key challenge for India is to increase economic growth while at the same time keeping energy demands low. This is especially challenging with the transition from biomass to fossil fuels, the growth of the motorized private transport and rising incomes, aspirations and changing lifestyles. The book suggests that at this time there are strong arguments to lessen India's fossil fuel dependence and it argues for a need to engage with all the key sources of this dependence to implement a process of energy change.

6 June 1984: The Indian Army storms the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Called Operation Bluestar, the historic and unprecedented event ended the growing spectre of terrorism perpetrated by the extremist Sikh leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his followers once and for all. But it left in its wake unsolved political questions that continued to threaten Punjab's stability for years to come. How, in a brief span of three years, did India's dynamic frontier state become a national problem? Who was to blame: the central government for allowing the crisis to drift despite warnings, or the long-drawn-out Akali agitation, or the notorious gang of militants who transformed a holy shrine into a sanctuary for terrorists? First published two months after Operation Bluestar, The Punjab Story pieces together the complex Punjab jigsaw through the eyes of some of India's most eminent public figures and journalists. Writing with the passion and conviction of those who were involved with the drama, they present a wide-ranging perspective on the past, present and future of the Punjab tangle; and the truth of many of their'conclusions having been borne out by time.

War Despatches Indo Pak Conflict 1965 written by Lt Gen Harbakhsh Singh and has been published by Lancer Publishers LLC this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1991 with India-Pakistan Conflict, 1965 categories.

The conflict was short and limited, packed with intense activity, major movement, heavy fighting and crucial decisions. The initiative rested with Pakistan to commence hostilities, which they did with a mix of irregular and regular troops and tactics. This is a story of anticipation, of impending actions, of virtual equality of forces engaged in a savage battle of attrition in which no quarters were given or asked. The author, GOC-in-C Western Command during those fateful days provided an unflappable presence under whose command the Army imposed unacceptable levels of losses on the enemy, first toning down their rhetoric, then their confidence, and lastly their ability to sustain very high levels of material losses. There is very little material or records to draw upon for our military studies of warfare in and around the Indian subcontinent. War Despatches narrates for the first time the inside story through original despatches field by the Army Commander from the war zone. To maintain the authenticity of the Despatches, the military style of writing has been followed in the text as far as possible.

In the early part of the twentieth century, Sri Aurobindo wrote: For this thing is written in the book of God and nothing can prevent it that the national life of India will meet and possess its divine and mighty destiny Sri Aurobindo had taken an active part in the Freedom movement and on 15 August 1947, India got its freedom but it was a fissured freedom. On that very same day with regard to the partition, Sri Aurobindo said: This must not be; the partition must go. Let us hope that this may come about naturally, by an increasing recognition of the necessity not only of peace and concord but of common action, by the practice of common action and the creation of means for that purpose. This book is an attempt to trace the political history of India from the ancient times to the modem day. It looks at the partial success and failure of unification in the past history of India and tries to analyse the causes of the failure. It is important to note a few points that have been stressed in the book. Firstly, great importance has been given to the psychological and deeper cultural unity. No sound and lasting political unity can be built without this strong psychological foundation. Secondly, this psychological oneness has to be manifested in the political system as well as in the religious field. Therefore suggestions have been made to bring about a national government and to move towards spirituality in order to harmonize all the religions in India. The aim of this book is to initiate a dialogue among all those who believe in the higher destiny of India to further the cause of unity and harmony in the subcontinent.

Nature has provided defendable borders, rich resources and excellent human capital to India. The country, however, has not been able to use these assets to her advantage – kind courtesy self seeking regional ruling satraps, who have been quarreling among themselves making way for invaders and foreigners. Resultantly, there has been no strategic culture, sense of unity, history and its recording and evaluating. There has seldom been one India. Its traditions have been mostly oral and the religious texts always had greater significance and merit. British during their rule over India pillaged it and took away entire wealth and art pieces of immense valve to Britain. On getting independence, India adopted parliamentary system of governance, based on Westminster model, which without proper reforms is not suiting to Indian conditions and is further seemingly dividing us. Rather than narrowing down our diversities, it is further widening the same which is against the unity of the country. Democracy is our strength but its four basic pillars of stability and continuity of the government, its accountability, responsibility and transparency are not being secured. The book is an attempt to analyse the effects of British ‘Divide and Rule’ Policy on us all and specially our armed forces.
