En este libro se tratan temas que se podrían considerar "candentes" en la gestión del conocimiento sobre el arte rupestre de Cuba. Dichos temas son tratados aquí como problemas teóricos y metodológicos susceptibles a la crítica y el cuestionamiento académico. En estas líneas se analizan, desde una concepción materialista histórica, las limitaciones en el empleo de ciertas herramientas en la investigación del arte rupestre de Cuba, así como de los resultados y conclusiones a los que se ha arribado a partir de su aplicación. Si una de las razones más importantes de nuestra actividad es la construcción de un conocimiento histórico y social, es imprescindible entonces manejar, desde una visión analítica y crítica, la implementación de dichas herramientas y las tendencias de interpretación y explicación que han sido predominantes en los estudios del arte rupestre.

Antigonas: Writing from Latin America is the first book in the English language to approach classical reception through the study of one classical fragment as it circulates throughout Latin America. This interdisciplinary research engages comparative literature, Latin American studies,classical reception, history, feminist theory, political philosophy, and theatre history. Moira Fradinger tracks the ways in which, since the early nineteenth century, fragments of Antigone's myth and tragedy have been persistently cannibalized and ruminated throughout South and Central America andthe Caribbean, quilted to local dramatic forms, revealing an archive of political thought about Latin America's heterogeneous neo-colonial histories. Antigona is consistently characterized as a national mother and, as the twentieth century advances, multiplied on stage, forming female collectives,foregrounding the urgency of systemic change or staging gender politics. Through meticulous examination of classical culture in necolonial contexts, Fradinger explores ways of reading Creole texts from the geopolitical South that disrupt the colonial reading protocols that deracinate texts or lockthem into locality. By historicizing Antigona plays and interpreting them with a purpose to address specific colonial legacies, the book reveals how Antigona has ceased being Greek and instead tells stories of twentieth- and twenty-first-century Latin America. Antigonas rethinks the paradigmsthrough which we understand the presence of ancient cultural materials in former colonial territories, while illuminating an understudied continent in Anglophone reception studies.

La IX edición del Simposio Iberoamericano de Terminología, que se celebró en la sede del Institut d’Estudis Catalans los días 29 y 30 de noviembre y 1 y 2 de diciembre de 2004, se acogió a las iniciativas del Fòrum de les Cultures Barcelona 2004, primera edición de un nuevo acontecimiento internacional que se proponía –y se sigue proponiendo en su continuación– promover el diálogo entre las diferentes culturas del mundo para articular una cultura de la paz, respetuosa con la diversidad y funcionalmente sostenible, que fuera capaz de impulsar un proceso de globalización basado en criterios éticos, igualitarios y solidarios compartidos. Los principios del Fòrum de les Cultures Barcelona 2004, basados en la Declaración Universal de los Derechos Humanos y en los principios programáticos de las Naciones Unidas, asumen el compromiso de fomentar los valores democráticos, la defensa de las libertades y derechos individuales, el respeto por la diversidad étnica, cultural, lingüística y religiosa, el impulso del diálogo y la creatividad, el respeto por la biodiversidad, el fomento de la responsabilidad social mediante el diálogo y la promoción del desarrollo sostenible. La Red Iberoamericana de Terminología (RITerm) cooperó en estos principios dedicando el IX Simposio al papel que desempeña la terminología en los tres ejes temáticos del Fòrum: la paz, la diversidad y la sostenibilidad. La terminología puede tener un papel importante en este diálogo, desde una doble vertiente: por un lado, porque puede participar en la delimitación de conceptos fuertemente ideologizados y polisémicos que están en la base de muchos conflictos desencadenados; por otro lado, porque es un elemento clave en la transmisión de ideas y conocimientos en un marco de plurilingüismo y especialización.\n
