Entre confidences à son fils et préceptes royaux, les « Mémoires » du Roi-Soleil se lisent tant comme une leçon de politique que la description du « métier » d'un roi habité par l'idée de sa propre gloire et de son droit divin. Cette édition est suivie du « Testament » de Louis XIV.
