For more than thirty years, author Teri Meloche-Greb existed in a physically abusive relationship. During that time, her soul was slowly sucked out of her, and she lost her identity. She began journaling and was able to figure out who she was and what she wanted most in life. In Love Me Just as I Am, she offers a journal and a sketchbook to help you get to know you and to start putting you first. Meloche-Greb encourages you to forget all others and their preconceived notions of who they think you are or who they think you should be and begin to truly, deeply, and honestly love yourself. Through prompts for both journaling and drawing, Meloche-Greb offers an opportunity for reflection, a quiet time for you to breathe deep and relax into mindfulness. Love Me Just as I Am wants you to be able to live your own journey no matter how different it may be from anyone else’s. It wishes you to revisit the happy, joyful soul that is yours if you let it come out and meet the world.

E. Lynn Harris's blend of rich, romantic storytelling and controversial contemporary issues like race and bisexuality have found an enthusiastic and diverse audience across America. Readers celebrate the arrival in paperback of his second novel, Just As I Am, which picks up where Invisible Life left off, introducing Harris's appealing and authentic characters to a new set of joys, conflicts, and choices. Raymond, a young black lawyer from the South, struggles to come to terms with his sexuality and with the grim reality of AIDS. Nicole, an aspiring singer/actress, experiences frustration in both her career and in her attempts to find a genuine love relationship. Both characters share an eclectic group of friends who challenge them, and the reader, to look at themselves and the world around thern through different eyes. By portraying Nicole's and Raymond's joys, as well as their pain, Harris never ceases to remind us that life, like love, is about self-acceptance. In this vivid portrait of contemporary black life, with all its pressures and the complications of bisexuality, AIDS, and racism, Harris confirms a faith in the power of love -- love of all kinds -- to thrill and to heal, which will warm the hearts of readers everywhere.

I am in my mid-fifties and grew up in church on the old hymns such as "Just as I Am" and "I Surrender All." As much as I love contemporary Christian music, I must say the old hymns have much stronger messages about Christ, who He is, and how we are in desperate need of salvation. This book's title "Just As I Am" is a play on that old hymn penned by invalid Charlotte Elliot in 1835. She wrote this hymn after reevaluating her relationship with Christ, the simple message of sin, forgiveness, and restoration for all who run to Jesus. However, too many use "just as I am" to stay "just as they are." There seems to be a mindset of "Jesus loves and accepts me just as I am," as though transformation isn't necessary. Too many well-intentioned Christ-followers remain in their feeble, bitter, angry, sick, sad, and sorry estate long after coming to Christ, making a profession of faith, yet remaining the same. The other old hymn I love and will reference is "I Surrender All" by Judson W. Van DeVenter in 1896. It was written on the heels of Van DeVenter grappling five years over whether to follow his talents to become famous or forsake it all for the ministry. From his surrender came this cherished hymn. This day and age, there is little, at least that I can see, true surrender. I do not wish to be critical, just accurate in my statement. I, too, fell into this Christian category for several decades until I surrendered all, forsaking everything my fleshly nature wanted, felt, and thought. This book is intended to reveal how shallow most Christians are and how to remedy the problem. I was shallow, though I thought myself mature in Christ by eighteen. After facing insurmountable trials, I recognized my helpless estate, came to Christ just as I was, but then allowed Him to transform me from the inside out-I surrendered all at thirty-one February 2000. I have never looked back, longing for more of what I want, think, or feel.

Have you ever wondered what it would take for a brainwashed, suicidal victim of a cult to be able to live a normal life? I know a little more than some about deliverance. Once I was told I was possessed by demons and a danger to all those around me. I stayed up many a night being "delivered," coughing up "demons." Told I didn't have enough faith or I was in love with the demon inside of me and I didn't want to let it go. I went to many a prayer meeting, but the "demons" wouldn't let go. Or so I thought. The demons were not what was inside of me; it was the company I kept who was around me. They piled lie upon lie upon lie in my mind. Why? I don't know. For manipulation, for control, for kicks, or maybe out of ignorance. It almost broke me. It took me to the edge of my sanity, and let me tell you, it's been a long way coming back. Have you ever been there? What darkness do you face? Are you on the edge of your sanity? Let me tell you there is a peace that belongs to those who belong to Christ. This book will show you how a life with Christ is the only way to be fully set free from the situation that you face. This book will shine the light of hope into your life. Set Free through Christ Who Strengthens Me is my journey from being a victim of a cult to living a full life with Christ. Come share the journey with me and see how Christ will be your strength when you are at your darkest hour.

Life is a journey, not a destination. In this book you will find an imaginative world traversed by characters, both human and animal, who represent many aspects of my psyche. The two main characters, Turtle and Butterfly - one reclusive and prone to ponder rather than act, the other flighty, ethereal and more outgoing - have decided to take a journey that will lead them into the unknown. Their journey is one of self-discovery that encourages trusting oneself as they explore many of the truths I have come to claim as my own. Ultimately, and together with the other characters they meet along the way, both human and animal, they create a strong sense of unity, a foundation with which to continue their life adventures. In a very real sense this is a self-help book set within a story.
