Towards The Prophetic Church written by John M. Hull and has been published by SCM Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-09-30 with Religion categories.

Thirty years ago John Hull wrote “What Prevents Christian Adults from Learning?”. This new book asks “What Prevents Christian Adults from Acting?” How has it come about that the Church appears to be so preoccupied with itself? What happened to the quest for the social justice of the Kingdom of God? John Hull's search for understanding took him back to the prophetic tradition of the Bible, and he discovered that this has become neglected and even betrayed. Christian discipleship must be more than church-going and prayer. Christians must resist the unjust structures of society in the prophetic tradition. Theological reflection is not enough!

Prophecy Fulfilled written by Gary Gallant and has been published by Christian Classics Reproductions this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-09-03 with Bibles categories.

This book is a daily devotional of the prophecies from the Old Testament fulfilled throughout history. The foretelling from these prophets is historically accurate. Most are fulfilled by Jesus Christ alone. Jesus talks about fulfilling the Law and the prophets. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said that He had not come to abolish the Law or the prophets but to fulfill them (Matthew 5:17). Scripture tells of prophets, their warnings, and their prophecies. Some spoke of good things to come, while others described desperate times. The fact that Jesus fulfilled the Law, the Prophets, and the Writings reminds us that the Word of God is true, steadfast, and eternal. God is active in every moment. Prophets foretold the birth of Jesus and how He would face trials, disappointment, the unbelief of the people, torture, and death on the cross. Scripture tells how Jesus would rise on the third day and ascend into Heaven to sit at the right hand of His Father. Through each word spoken and each action, Jesus showed what would happen. Jesus knew that the plan of His Father was the best. By reading and studying the Word of God, we learn that everything Jesus said would happen is true. Although not all prophecies have been fulfilled yet, Christians know that the day is coming when Jesus will return.

Prophets have a reputation of changing, for the better, the relationship between people and God. Christianity has a long history of prophets who have directed the faithful towards more justice and righteousness. What can Christians learn from prophets for daily life, for contemporary theology, and for pastoral care? This book looks at prophetic action from a biblical, pastoral, and ethical perspective. The contributions - from both pastoral theologians and pastors from around the globe - make this study a unique exercise in maintaining the prophetic perspective in theological reflection and pastoral practice. They’re leaving home - will they leave the faith? Every year, thousands of young Catholics leave their homes for higher education at our nation’s colleges and universities. Very few realize, however, that from orientation day onward, they will be indoctrinated with a vision of reality that is very different from the values their families hold dear. Sadly, many of our young people will fall prey to one or more of the dominant ideologies engrained in their college education, ideologies that can lead them away from the Church and, ultimately, their faith in God. Students who are not taught how to think critically or who lack the tools needed to sift through the logic of these positions are easily swayed by the smooth sophistry of the intellectual elite. For this reason, twelve of the top Catholic writers in America - professors, priests, journalists, philosophers, and theologians - have come together to dissect the trendy ideas that can lead young Catholics away from the Church. Disorientation is intellectual ammunition for every college student and parent, as it breaks down the history, analyzes the appeal, and debunks the empty promises of such wildly popular errors as: Hedonism Relativism Progressivism Modernism Scientism Fundamentalism Radical Feminism Multiculturalism …and more. Edited by John Zmirak (author, The Bad Catholic’s Guide to Good Living and editor of Choosing the Right College), this book is guaranteed to get college students thinking hard about what their professors are telling them - and what they should really believe. Contributors: Fr. George Rutler (Cynicism), Donna Steichen (Feminism), Jimmy Akin (Fundamentalism), Fr. John Zuhlsdorf (Modernism), Peter Kreeft (Progressivism), Robert Spencer (Multiculturalism), Mark Shea (Americanism), Eric Metaxas (Relativism), John Keck (Scientism), Elizabeth Scalia (Sentimentalism), Eric Brende (Consumerism, John Zmirak (Hedonism), Fr.
