For readers of all ages who enjoyed the creative geniuses of J. R. R. Tolkien, Terry Brooks and C. S. Lewis, "The Legacy of Shandar" is an epic tale of classic fantasy and adventure, a compelling sword-and-dagger novel which will fascinate both die-hard fans and new readers alike!"There is chaos in the world. Evil is no longer punished, nor good rewarded: success is only for the strong, and failure strikes down the weak. This is the most terrible truth of our age.'This is a story about the fabled city of Shandar, its Five Great Houses and its struggle against a unrelenting evil threatening to destroy all life in the land of Handaar. As the city stands against the enemy, a fellowship of envoys embarks on a perilous journey, driven by perhaps the most difficult mission of all: bridge centuries of mistrust and hostilities with the other great civilizations of the land and unite them against the armies of darkness in the THIRD DOMINON WAR.

Dynamics of Snow and Ice Masses gives an outline of snow and ice studies with an emphasis on essential properties and processes. The monograph also treats the dynamical aspects of snow and ice masses. The text covers topics such as the flow and temperature of ice sheets and shelves, the numerical modeling of ice-sheet changes; the structure of glaciers, the experimental creep behavior of ice, flow law of glacier ice, and advance and retreat of glaciers. Also covered are topics such as sea ice - the physics of its growth, drift, and decay; iceberg deterioration, sources, drift, and drift patterns; and freshwater ice growth, motion, and decay. The book is recommended as a textbook for graduate-level students of snow and ice studies and as reference for climatologists.

The NATO ASI held in the Geophysical Institute, University of Alaska Fairbanks, June 17-28, 1991 was, we believe, the first attempt to bring together geoscientists from all the disciplines related to the solar system where fluid flow is a fundamental phenomenon. The various aspects of flow discussed at the meeting ranged from the flow of ice in glaciers, through motion of the solar wind, to the effects of flow in the Earth's mantle as seen in surface phenomena. A major connecting theme is the role played by convection. For a previous attempt to review the various ways in which convection plays an important role in natural phenomena one must go back to an early comprehensive study by 1. Wasiutynski in "Astro physica Norvegica" vo1. 4, 1946. This work, little known now perhaps, was a pioneering study. In understanding the evolution of bodies of the solar system, from accretion to present-day processes, ranging from interplanetary plasma to fluid cores, the understanding of flow hydrodynamics is essentia1. From the large scale in planetary atmospheres to geological processes, such as those seen in magma chambers on the Earth, one is dealing with thermal or chemical convection. Count Rumford, the founder of the Royal Institution, studied thermal convection experimentally and realized its practical importance in domestic contexts.
