Musica Sentimental written by Eugenio Cambaceres and has been published by Stockcero, Inc this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005 with Fiction categories.

"Musica Sentimental" carries as subtitle "Silbidos de un vago", the same as Cambaceres' first novel "Potpourri", that aroused ill feelings in a great part of the Argentine literary circle, most probably sullen and envious due to its sales success. Carrying the stigma of pornographer the readers' support to Cambaceres was expected to be short lived. Nothing farthest appart from what finally happened. The appearance of this second novel renewed the indignation as it was the general consensus that it showed the same scandalous traits as the first one. As the book ran among readers from hand to hand the author was accused of being the "courtisan of lower passions". However Cambaceres shows a self imposing personality, owner of a particular style, artisan of a novel vocabulary that in no way can be considered vulgar, though it faithfully reproduces that particular speak of well-to-do "porteños" at the turn of the XIX Century, a mixture of "gaucho", highly educated Spanish, French, and argot of both languages. The strongest asset of Cambaceres is the strength of his thought cast in precise words. His style is sharp, cutting and dry, and turns out to be perfect and captivating as it paints realistic pictures such as the licentious life of Pablo, without a moral standing and ended in a most tragic and revolting way. The scenes are drawn with perfection of details, becoming realistic paintings that define and highlight vigorously the wandering life of the rich Latin American youngsters of the time, for whom the initiatic trip to the "Old Continent" spanned from the search of what was considered "haute culture" down to the social rubbing, without neglecting the "worldly man experience" to be obtained in brothels and garçonnieres. Through Cambaceres pen appears not only the adolescent gluttony of Latin Americans but also the underlying rot ingrained within the French society, admired for its culture but whose morals are critisized unmercifully in these, considered among the richest pages of the author's production.

"In bold strokes and forceful scenes, Cambaceres describes the vibrant culture of fin-de-siecle Buenos Aires. Written when heavy waves of immigration were rapidly transforming Buenosairean culture, the book raises the issue of mestization, or the mixing of races, as well as the creation of a new dominant class. As a new addition to the already-acclaimed Library of Latin America, Pot Pourri will claim its rightful place alongside other major works of Latin American literature."--BOOK JACKET.

The issues raised in this study are pertinent to contemporary fiction in general: important here are theories of representation, of place, of metafiction and parody, and questions involving postcolonial, urban, travel, and postmodern literature.

Bicycle Thieves written by Robert S. C. Gordon and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-07-25 with Performing Arts categories.

Bicycle Thieves (Ladri di biciclette, 1948) is unarguably one of the most important films in the history of cinema. It is also one of the most beguiling, moving and (apparently) simple pieces of narrative ever made. The film tells the story of one man and his son, as they search fruitlessly through the streets of Rome for his stolen bicycle; the bicycle which had offered the possibility of escape from the poverty and humiliation of long-term unemployment. One of a cluster of extraordinary films to come out of post-war, post-Fascist Italy - loosely labelled 'neorealist' – Bicycle Thieves won an Oscar in 1949, topped the first Sight and Sound poll of the best films of all time in 1952 and has been hugely influential throughout world cinema ever since. It remains a necessary point of reference for any cinematic engagement with the labyrinthine experience of the modern city, the travails of poverty in the contemporary world, the complex bond between fathers and sons, and the capacity of the camera to capture something like the essence of all of these. Robert S. C. Gordon's BFI Film Classics volume shows how Bicycle Thieves is ripe for re-viewing, for rescuing from its worthy status as a neorealist 'classic'. It looks at the film's drawn-out planning and production history, the vibrant and riven context in which it was made, and the dynamic geography, geometry and sociology of the film that resulted.

The Argentine Novel written by Myron I. Lichtblau and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1997 with Literary Criticism categories.

The Argentine Novel is a comprehensive bibliography of the Argentine novel from its beginnings in 1788, the year Miguel Learte wrote Las aventuras de Learte, until 1990, when such authors as Osvaldo Soriano and Luisa Valenzuela published their popular novels. In addition to novels, the bibliography includes works which may be considered under the rubric of short novel, such as "novela corta," which, in spite of its short length, partakes more of the novel than the short story in its basic literary conception, plot development, and narrative scope. Where possible, all editions of each novel or work are cited, as well as translations into foreign languages, and citations may be followed by one or more critical commentaries or select bibliographies of additional studies on the work or its author. This exhaustive work serves as the definitive guide to this genre in Argentine literature. A must for all collections that support comparative literature studies, Hispanic studies, or as a guide to popular reading.
