Bron and Ray are a queer couple who enjoy their role as the fun weirdo aunties to Ray’s niece, six-year-old Nessie. Their playdates are little oases of wildness, joy, and ease in all three of their lives, which ping-pong between familial tensions and deep-seeded personal stumbling blocks. As their emotional intimacy erodes, Ray and Bron isolate from each other and attempt to repair their broken family ties ― Ray with her overworked, resentful single-mother sister and Bron with her religious teenage sister who doesn’t fully grasp the complexities of gender identity. Taking a leap of faith, each opens up and learns they have more in common with their siblings than they ever knew. At turns joyful and heartbreaking, Stone Fruit reveals through intimately naturalistic dialog and blue-hued watercolor how painful it can be to truly become vulnerable to your loved ones ― and how fulfilling it is to be finally understood for who you are. Lee Lai is one of the most exciting new voices to break into the comics medium and she has created one of the truly sophisticated graphic novel debuts in recent memory.

Clinical Aphasiology written by Martin Ball and has been published by Psychology Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-06-11 with Psychology categories.

This book presents a collection of cutting edge work from leading researchers and clinicians around the world on a range of topics within Clinical Aphasiology. However, more than this, the volume is also a tribute to Chris Code, one of the foremost scholars in the field. Professor Code has made a galvanizing impact on the field: as a savant, a motivator and an impresario of trends which have resulted in several significant developments in the field. In the first chapter of this book the editors outline the considerable contributions Chris Code has made to the area. The remaining contents have been divided into three main approaches to the study of aphasia, reflecting Professor Code’s own interests. First are the contributions that fall under the heading of Conceptual Considerations. These are mainly interdisciplinary in nature, spanning linguistics, phonetics, psychology and neurology, as well as social aspects of communication disorders. The second section of the book deals with Research Considerations, with chapters ranging from how the study of disrupted communication can inform models of normal language processing, through tone production and processing in speakers with aphasia, to anomia and progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy. Each of these chapters explores different aspects of research methodology, including quantitative and qualitative research. The final section of the collection deals with Clinical Considerations; the chapters here cover counselling, computerized training, cultural and linguistic diversity in aphasia, right hemisphere disorders, and communication problems in the dementias. Clinical Aphasiology will be an invaluable tool for both students and practitioners in speech and language pathology, psychology, neurology, and related fields.

Host Manipulation By Parasites written by Richard Dawkins and has been published by OUP Oxford this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-06-07 with Science categories.

Parasites that manipulate the behaviour of their hosts represent striking examples of adaptation by natural selection. This field of study is now moving beyond its descriptive phase and into more exciting areas where the processes and patterns of such dramatic adaptations can be better understood. This innovative text provides an up-to-date, authoritative, and challenging review of host manipulation by parasites that assesses the current state of developments in the field and lays out a framework for future research. It also promotes a greater integration of behavioral ecology with studies of host manipulation (behavioral ecology has tended to concentrate mainly on behaviour expressed by free living organisms and is far less focused on the role of parasites in shaping behaviour). To help achieve this, the editors adopt a novel approach of having a prominent expert on behavioral ecology (but who does not work directly on parasites) to provide an afterword to each chapter.

Partially Integrable Evolution Equations In Physics written by R. Conte and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Technology & Engineering categories.

In the many physical phenomena ruled by partial differential equations, two extreme fields are currently overcrowded due to recent considerable developments: 1) the field of completely integrable equations, whose recent advances are the inverse spectral transform, the recursion operator, underlying Hamiltonian structures, Lax pairs, etc 2) the field of dynamical systems, often built as models of observed physical phenomena: turbulence, intermittency, Poincare sections, transition to chaos, etc. In between there is a very large region where systems are neither integrable nor nonintegrable, but partially integrable, and people working in the latter domain often know methods from either 1) or 2). Due to the growing interest in partially integrable systems, we decided to organize a meeting for physicists active or about to undertake research in this field, and we thought that an appropriate form would be a school. Indeed, some of the above mentioned methods are often adaptable outside their original domain and therefore worth to be taught in an interdisciplinary school. One of the main concerns was to keep a correct balance between physics and mathematics, and this is reflected in the list of courses.

Logistics Systems Design And Optimization written by Andre Langevin and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-12-06 with Business & Economics categories.

In a context of global competition, the optimization of logistics systems is inescapable. Logistics Systems: Design and Optimization falls within this perspective and presents twelve chapters that well illustrate the variety and the complexity of logistics activities. Each chapter is written by recognized researchers who have been commissioned to survey a specific topic or emerging area of logistics. The first chapter, by Riopel, Langevin, and Campbell, develops a framework for the entire book. It classifies logistics decisions and highlights the relevant linkages to logistics decisions. The intricacy of these linkages demonstrates how thoroughly the decisions are interrelated and underscores the complexity of managing logistics activities. Each of the chapters focus on quantitative methods for the design and optimization of logistics systems.
