'Where the slime mould creeps' introduces the fascinating world of myxomycetes, the plasmodial or acellular slime moulds. It describes their life cycle, the different types of plasmodia and the key features of their spore-bearing fruiting bodies, with numerous images that reveal this important but little-known subject. This third edition includes updated information based on the latest research from around the world; additional personal accounts of slime mould 'hotspots'; and the species list for Black Sugarloaf-and Australia-has been updated. Also included are some of Thomas McBride's poetic descriptions from his 1899 book The North American Slime-Moulds, and musings about the function of iridescence in these beautiful but often overlooked organisms. The number of species depicted in this edition has increased to 121 and almost all the photographs in the previous editions have been replaced with images using focus stacking. Also included are more time-lapse series that show the remarkable changes in colour and shape of developing fruiting bodies, micrographs that illustrate the ornate microscopic features found within their spore mass, and scanning electron micrographs (SEM) that show features not captured by conventional microscopes. This book is packed with information intended for the general reader. Its numerous photographs and clear descriptions of key features should enable identification to family or genus for anyone lucky enough to find a slime mould.

The Mould Design Guide written by Peter Jones and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Science categories.

This book provides design engineers, toolmakers, moulding technicians and production engineers with an in depth guide to the design and manufacture of mould tools that work successfully in production. It highlights the necessity to design a mould tool that allows overall production to make an acceptable profit, and whilst it is recognised that not all design engineers will be able to influence the profitability factor it is an important aspect to consider. The guide focuses on designs that will produce the required production rate and quality of mouldings in a consistent and reliable fashion; the key components of a successful mould tool. The introductory chapters outline the injection moulding process, basic moulding parameters and overall machine construction. Dedicated chapters give a full account of all the variables that should be taken into account.

This review first discusses mould release and then addresses mould fouling. Significant material and process variables are considered first and then practical guidance on the selection of release agents and surface treatments are addressed. This is followed by advice on mould cleaning and the assessment of mould sticking and mould fouling. An additional indexed section containing several hundred abstracts from the Rapra Polymer Library database gives useful references for further reading.

Mould infestation in heritage collections can damage artifacts and may pose a health risk to individuals who work with these collections. This Techical Bulletin presents information on mould morphology, prevention of mould growth, actions to take should mould occur and health effects relating to mould exposure. It informs the reader how to remove mould growth froom artifacts and it describes the appropriate personal protective equipment to wear when working in a mould-contaminated environment or when work.

My name is David, and my trade is ‘Mould Maker’. Over the years, I have developed the art of making moulds for ceramics, candles, boats and other objects. I worked in several boatyards, one in Great Britain on the River Thames. My father was a ceramic technician and he had a factory where I earned a living making ceramic moulds from plaster of paris, some as large as an old television set. He rented me a workshop for two years. It is certainly possible to earn a living making moulds and this book will help you understand what is involved.

Practical Guide To Blow Moulding written by N. C. Lee and has been published by iSmithers Rapra Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with Science categories.

Blow moulding is a manufacturing process used to form hollow plastic parts. It evolved from the ancient art of glass blowing and it is used to particular advantage with plastic materials. Celluloid was used first to blow mould baby rattles and novelties in the 1930s, linear low-density polyethylene was used in the 1940s for high production bottles and these days polyethylene terephthalate is used to make anything from soda bottles, to highly sophisticated multilayered containers and automotive fuel tanks in the last decade. When designing a product it is important to consider aspects such as a material's characteristics, the processing methods available, the assembly and finishing procedures, and the life cycle and expected performance of the product. This book presents the basics of blow moulding as well as the latest state-of-the-art and science of the industry. A key feature is the approach of discussing the 'basics' and then taking the reader through the entire process from design development through to final production.

Excerpt from Rust, Smut, Mildew,& Mould: An Introduction to the Study of Microscopic Fungi The third edition of this Work having for some time been out of print, and the demands of the public encouraging the publisher to proceed with a new edition, I have entirely revised the Appendix, adding descriptions of all the species since discovered, so far as they relate to the Orders included in this volume. The success which has attended the sale of this Work, and the number of fresh observers it has brought into the field, has greatly tended to the necessity for this revision. A larger number of observers, over a still more extended area, will, it is hoped, add further to our list by increasing the number of known species. Hitherto one great cause of the paucity of students of Fungi in this country, especially of the Microscopic forms, has been the want of text-books on the subject, containing descriptions of the species, with figures illustrative of the genera. Although this little volume only partly supplies that want, by including the species found on living plants alone, it has already proved of service; this and its companion volume, "Introduction to British Fungi," being (with one exception) the only books on Fungi which have passed beyond a first edition in this country; a fact which appears to prove that they have succeeded in furnishing a desideratum, and in giving an impetus to the study. It is hoped that similar results will follow the publication of this new edition. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
