The web of lies she’s forced to weave could destroy them both… FBI Special Agent Elizabeth Ward did her job, and did it well. Her undercover work brought down a mobster’s empire. Her reward? A bullseye on her back, betrayal burning like battery acid in her veins, and a life on the run. A remote Montana ranch was supposed to be a safe haven to begin reclaiming her life. Which doesn’t include a man as solid as a mountain, with sapphire eyes and a slow, sexy drawl that curls inside her in a way she hasn’t felt in far too long. Nat Sullivan smells trouble coming in the Triple H’s cold mountain air. And this time it’s not the repo men sneaking in to take his prized horses. It’s a beautiful woman with wide eyes, dark hair, and skin pale as snow. Together, the damaged agent and struggling rancher find common ground…and a healing passion neither expected. But when a killer with a lust for revenge tracks Elizabeth down, the secrets she must unleash to survive could destroy everything they both love… Revenge or Redemption. Which would you choose? Cellular And Molecular Basis Of Synaptic Transmission written by Herbert Zimmermann and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-06-29 with Science categories.

Major progresses in the study of the cellular and molecular basis of synaptic transmission of nerve cells are highlighted. Each individual contribution gives an overview of the subject, presenting a description of the technical approach and considering future perspectives of the developments in the field. Topics range from historical aspects of the development of biochemical studies on synaptic transmission to the most advanced techniques applicable in morphological and functional studies of the nerve terminal. Studies on synaptic vesicles, the regulation of presynaptic transmitter synthesis, transmitter-release and especially the molecular structure and function of presynaptic ion channels and of transmitter receptors offer a detailed insight into synaptic events.

The Role Of Membranes In Metabolic Regulation written by Myron Mehlman and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-02 with Science categories.

The Role of Membranes in Metabolic Regulation is the second volume in a series of in-depth reviews of specific areas of metabolic regulation. This volume is based on the 1972 symposium on The Role of Membranes in Metabolic Regulation held at the University of Nebraska Medical School. Separating 20 manuscripts into chapters, this book emphasizes membrane structure and function as well as utilization of affinity chromatography for purification of biologically important cellular components, called membrane receptors. It also discusses the role of phospholipids in hormone sensitive enzyme systems, with an emphasis on adenylate cyclase system. Other chapters describe the induction of steroidogenesis by corticotrophin and its synthetic analogues coupled by an azo linkage in free adrenal cells and the interaction between the mammary epithelial cells and insulin-sepharose systems. Topics on erythrocyte as a system for studying the properties of adenylate cyclase and the ionic effects in the sugar transport regulation in muscle are discussed in the concluding chapters of the book. Biochemists, physiologists, pharmacologists, physicians, researchers, and all others interested in the concepts about metabolic regulation will find this series of great value.

Structure And Function Of Biological Membranes written by Lawrence I. Rothfield and has been published by Academic Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-06-28 with Science categories.

Structure and Function of Biological Membranes explains the membrane phenomena at the molecular level through the use of biochemical and biophysical approaches. The book is an in-depth study of the structure and function of membranes. It is divided into three main parts. The first part provides an overview of the study of the biological membrane at the molecular level. Part II focuses on the detailed description of the overall molecular organization of membranes. The third part covers the relationship of the molecular organization of membranes to specific membrane functions; discusses catalytic membrane proteins; presents the role of membranes in important cellular functions; and looks at the membrane systems in eukaryotic cells. Biochemists, cell physiologists, biologists, researchers, and graduate and postdoctoral students in the field of biology will find the text a good reference material.

Transport In Plants Ii written by U. Lüttge and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Science categories.

As plant physiology increased steadily in the latter half of the 19th century, problems of absorption and transport of water and of mineral nutrients and problems of the passage of metabolites from one cell to another were investigated, especially in Germany. JUSTUS VON LIEBIG, who was born in Darmstadt in 1803, founded agricultural chemistry and developed the techniques of mineral nutrition in agricul ture during the 70 years of his life. The discovery of plasmolysis by NAGEL! (1851), the investigation of permeability problems of artificial membranes by TRAUBE (1867) and the classical work on osmosis by PFEFFER (1877) laid the foundations for our understanding of soluble substances and osmosis in cell growth and cell mechanisms. Since living membranes were responsible for controlling both water movement and the substances in solution, "permeability" became a major topic for investigation and speculation. The problems then discussed under that heading included passive permeation by diffusion, Donnan equilibrium adjustments, active transport processes and antagonism between ions. In that era, when organelle isolation by differential centrifugation was unknown and the electron microscope had not been invented, the number of cell membranes, their thickness and their composition, were matters for conjecture. The nature of cell surface membranes was deduced with remarkable accuracy from the reactions of cells to substances in solution. In 1895, OVERTON, in U. S. A. , published the hypothesis that membranes were probably lipid in nature because of the greater penetration by substances with higher fat solubility.
