Ten years on from their first book, Evangelism: Which way now? which has become a valuable and much recommended resource, Mark Ireland and Mike Booker aim to take people a step further. Making New Disciples offers a practical approach, based on careful theological reflection and years of hands-on experience in local church leadership, theological education and the national church. The book is not so much a Which? guide to the available resources, as a wrestling with the paradoxes of evangelism in a changing world, backed up with plenty of stories and specific examples.

Confessions, communions, sermons, and community service—Father Ford did it all. Although he never fully understood what led him to the priesthood and at times just went through the motions as best he could, he managed to avoid the conflicts and dilemmas that so often destroyed the careers of fellow clergy—no sexual misconduct of any kind, no stealing, nothing that would bring disgrace to the Church. But when the Church forces the closure of his low-income congregation and assigns him to a new church in a rich part of town, a hotbed of sin, he begins to question whether the Church establishment is truly honoring God's will. Challenged by a troubled parishioner who reminds him that violence and murder have long been a vital story within the saga of human salvation, Father Ford starts to understand that God has sent this messenger for a reason. He comes to the realization that perhaps his true calling is to do whatever is necessary to purify all who sin through extreme penance. In the sanctuary of the confessional, Father Ford and his unlikely partner commit to doing the work of Christ that the Church can't or won't do . . . bloody work—a divine charge to cleanse the congregation and safeguard the body of Christ from sinners. Together, in order to save, they resolve to kill.

Seeking the Lost, Keeping Them, Making Them Disciples By: Dr. Benoit Petit-Homme God bless Dr. Benoit Petit-Homme for all the work he has done in putting this book together. I believe that any church or leader who will follow these biblically-grounded principles will see beautiful results in changed lives for the kingdom. Teresa L. Reeve, PhD, Associate Dean, Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, Associate Professor of New Testament Contexts, Andrews University, United States of America Dr. Benoit Petit-Homme’s contribution to the discipleship crisis is a compelling re-examination of scripture, church history, and 21st century pastoral experience. Practical and convincing, his straightforward style brings real solutions to the evangelistic Achilles’ heels of attrition. He reminds us of what has been forgotten and calls us back to our relational roots. Pr. Ron Kelly, Senior Pastor, Village Seventh-day Adventist Church, Berrien Springs, Michigan, United States of America Seeking the Lost, Keeping Them, Making Them Disciples by Dr. Benoit Petit-Homme is a handy Christ-based discipleship resource that will contribute to the mission of training and equipping church ministry leaders in the evangelistic work of reaping, retaining, and nurturing new believing Christians. This is a must-read for church officers, pastors, and ministry directors in the Christian church. Ron C. Smith, PhD., D.Min, President, Southern Union Conference of SDA Every year, many thousands of people hear the Good News of Jesus Christ and choose to be baptized and join a church community. Unfortunately, it is also true that every year many new converts leave a church relatively shortly after joining. The specific reasons that each person leaves the church could fill a book by themselves, but they all boil down to one thing: a lack of focus on the part of the church community on turning converts into disciples of our Savior. A disciple of Christ does more than attend church services. A disciple is an active member of the church community. A disciple is a witness to others. A disciple seeks to grow the church by seeking to lead everyone they meet to Christ. Dr. Benoit Petit-Homme is a committed disciple of Christ, and after extensive study of exactly why new converts leave the church, he has developed a process by which any church can make disciples. All it takes is a little extra work, a bit of encouragement, and an unwavering faith in the Lord.

Those in the church and ministry are familiar with the Great Commission – the call to go forth and make disciples. However, for many, it isn’t that easy in a world increasingly influenced by doubters and distractions. Many Christian leaders may talk about it, but few really do it. Making disciples isn’t a complicated program, but a simple plan that comes only from Jesus. Now a diverse group of pastors, representing urban and rural communities, secular and Christian areas, as well as diverse multicultural backgrounds, and all known for successfully making new disciples, have gathered these sermons to encourage others to be disciple makers too. Discover: How Jesus practiced the Great Commission before He ever preached it Why discipleship begins with a whole-life understanding of worship When disciple-making gets confused with church growth efforts These and countless other insights will help guide you in a faithful, deliberate effort to fulfill the Great Commission – no matter where you live or what communities in which you minister. Included in the book are: The sermon texts and their outline formats. 12 study guides, one for each sermon, that can be used in small group or one-on-one settings in the week following the preaching of the sermon. A final appendix providing a self-evaluation tool that helps each person being discipled to evaluate the progress they are making in their walk with Christ.

A number of years ago, Tom Jones was asked to speak to a group of new disciples. The material that he shared with this group proved to be inspiring, grounding, and encouraging. It is that material that grew into these twenty-four personal letters to young disciples, now revised to reflect the changing and maturing of our ministries. As churches are being planted and getting healthier, we have more new disciples. This book is a great resource to put in their hands. "Letters to New Disciples" is a book directly from the heart of Tom Jones to the heart of the new disciple. Its effectiveness is seen in the following and other ways: (1) gives new disciples access to a father in the faith writing them short letters about issues they will face, (2) helps in the follow-up with new disciples, and (3) prepares them for temptations they will face.

Christ’s command to the church is clear: “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations...” It is in building disciples--helping others to embrace Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, mature in him, and then lead others to do the same--that the Kingdom grows. And when the Kingdom grows, churches do, too. In Growing True Disciples, respected author and researcher George Barna helps pastors and leaders assess how their churches are doing in fulfilling their role as disciplemakers. And he reveals models and examples that will equip churches to dramatically increase their effectiveness. As a result, your church can begin to see more involved members who want to live out their faith in submission to God, and joyfully share their resources to fulfill Christ’s commission.

The New Disciples written by Robert P. Moyer and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-09-25 with Fiction categories.

The New Disciples is a collection of stories that were inspired by brief passages in New Testament scripture. So often, as we read about the footsteps and faith teachings of Christ and his disciples, we are exposed to characters about whom we know very little. Sometimes, we see only one or two verses about a person, sometimes a paragraph, but these brief passages are sufficient only enough to elicit curiosity about their life experiences. Scripture gives us very little about the wise men who traveled across the middle east in order to bless the baby Jesus or about Barabbas whose life was spared as a prelude to the crucifixion or Lydia who encountered Paul during his mission to Philippi. In each case, they play a pivotal role in some way as to the furtherance of the greater mission picture in which they appear. In this collection of short stories, Robert Moyer has written plausible scenarios by which we might gain insight into the lives of some of these people and their individual pathways to Christian faith. While technologies and cultures have changed over the millennia, human nature today remains very much consistent with that of the human experience in the days of the living Christ and the legacy of faith he left for us. Through the lives of these characters, we see ourselves reflected on circuitous journeys similar in many ways to those we have followed in leading us to God's gift of the cross.
