The Waitangi Tribunal sits at the heart of the Treaty settlement process, with a unique remit to investigate claims and recommend settlements. But although the claims process has been hugely controversial, little has been written about the Tribunal itself. These essays, by leading academics, lawyers and researchers, successfully fill that gap, examining the Tribunal’s role in reshaping Māori identity and society, the Tribunal’s future mission, and its contribution to ideas of justice and reparation. This perceptive analysis of a key institution is vital reading for anyone seeking to understand Treaty settlements. This systematic treatment of the ferns and allied plants provides a modern classification of the Pteridophyta based on an assess ment of the wealth of new data published during the last few decades as well as on our own research. The accounts of the gen era include systematics, ecology, geography, spores and cytology and often other aspects of their biology. The scope of the work has involved all genera and the Old World species of those gen era represented in America. For a few American genera, that are especially complex in the Old World, it has been necessary to limit their treatment to the American representatives and this is specifically indicated in those cases. The eight American genera that do not occur in the tropics are treated in less detail. They are Camptosorus, Gymnocarpium, Matteuccia and Onoclea of North America, Arthropteris and Thyrsopteris of the Juan Fernandez Islands, Pleurosorus of southern South America, and the amphi tropical Cryptogramma. The complete generic nomenclature is included, except in a few specified cases where taxonomic complexities of the Old World elements have not been resolved. The synonyms and ac cepted names of subgeneric and sectional taxa are included only when pertinent to the generic nomenclature or to an infrageneric classification. Only the name of a publishing author is cited. There is no bibliographic purpose served by including the name of a person who was the source of, but did not validly publish, a name or epithet.

Women Artists written by Linda Nochlin and has been published by National Geographic Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-11-24 with Art categories.

A comprehensive compendium of renowned art historian Linda Nochlin's work, including her landmark essays on the position and influence of women artists. Linda Nochlin was one of the most accessible, provocative, and innovative art historians of our time. In 1971, she published “Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?”—a dramatic feminist call to arms that questioned traditional art historical practices and led to a major revision of the discipline. Now available in paperback, Women Artists brings together twenty-nine essential essays from throughout Nochlin's career. Included are her major thematic texts "Women Artists After the French Revolution" and "Starting from Scratch: The Beginnings of Feminist Art History," as well as her landmark 1971 essay and its rejoinder, " 'Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?' Thirty Years After." These appear alongside monographic entries focusing on a selection of major women artists, including Mary Cassatt, Louise Bourgeois, Cecily Brown, Kiki Smith, Miwa Yanagi, and Sophie Calle.
