O estudo da transposição platônica envolve diretamente o estudo em torno da alegoria e da interpretação alegórica (allegorese). Como a alegoria, a transposição nos oferece um conteúdo mítico ou mistérico com significações para além do aspecto literal, cuja designação tende a explicar elementos predeterminados ou em desenvolvimento. Como a interpretação alegórica, a transposição interpreta e modifica imagens e termos míticos tradicionais ou de mistérios, ressignificando seu conteúdo religioso em algo diverso, sem deixar de guardar certa similaridade com a forma original, tal como ocorre com a racionalização mítica entre os intérpretes alegóricos. Neste trabalho, buscaremos estabelecer a relação entre a alegoria e a allegorese (isto é, alegoria e interpretação alegórica) e a transposição platônica dos mitos tradicionais e dos mistérios. Partiremos da construção de uma visão crítica de Platão sobre o discurso dos intérpretes alegóricos, para então entendermos como esse modelo, embora criticado por ele, fora adaptado em sua filosofia com o termo conhecido comumente por transposição. Desse modo, abordaremos os elementos comparativos entre o modelo alegórico e o transpositivo, mas objetivando ressaltar as diferenças deste em relação ao primeiro; apontando, assim, um caminho possível dessa forma de pensar os mitos dentro da argumentação filosófica platônica.
