This gorgeous collection of meticulously composed duotone images of actors, musicians, and artists spans the German photographer’s entire 30-year career, and offers a rich sampling of his genius for staging, composition, and portraiture. Whether he’s capturing Elvis Costello in a pensive moment, going one-on-one with Iggy Pop, gazing into the eyes of Don Cheadle, or visiting Julian Schnabel in his studio, Olaf Heine has a talent for making larger-than-life subjects appear sensitive, vulnerable, and approachable. This career-spanning monograph features dozens of Heine’s signature portraits, impeccably staged and meticulously detailed. Printed in brilliant duotone on coated matte paper, each image is presented on its own page, allowing viewers the pleasure of lingering over the features that characterize a Heine photo: rich and varied tones, clean lines, subtle humor and pathos, and classically informed composition. Accompanying the images are texts from the artists or from Heine himself, affording a nuanced glimpse into the ongoing dialog between the gazer and the gazed-upon. A sumptuous feast for the eyes from one of the world’s leading photographers, this book celebrates the artistic process and the inspirations behind it.

The Berlin photographer Olaf Heine shows the sensuality of Brazil and does without striking color, he is primarily concerned with the form. The well-known portrait and fashion photographer was fascinated by the country, which he has traveled to several times. In his coffee table book Brazil, Heine juxtaposes the Brazilian landscape and architecture with the curves of the people, surfers and beautiful women. To do this, he dispenses with distracting colors and provides an unusual black-and-white view of Brazil.

Lyrics written by Sting and has been published by Dial Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-07-16 with Music categories.

From the first Police album, Outlandos D'Amour, through Sacred Love, here are the collected lyrics written by Sting, along with his commentary. “Publishing my lyrics separately from their musical accompaniment is something that I’ve studiously avoided until now. The two, lyrics and music, have always been mutually dependent, in much the same way as a mannequin and a set of clothes are dependent on each other; separate them, and what remains is a naked dummy and a pile of cloth. Nevertheless, the exercise has been an interesting one, seeing perhaps for the first time how successfully the lyrics survive on their own, and inviting the question as to whether song lyrics are in fact poetry or something else entirely. And while I’ve never seriously described myself as a poet, the book in your hands, devoid as it is of any musical notation, looks suspiciously like a book of poems. So it seems I am entering, with some trepidation, the unadorned realm of the poet. I have set out my compositions in the sequence they were written and provided a little background when I thought it might be illuminating. My wares have neither been sorted nor dressed in clothes that do not belong to them; indeed, they have been shorn of the very garments that gave them their shape in the first place. No doubt some of them will perish in the cold cruelty of this new environment, and yet others may prove more resilient and become perhaps more beautiful in their naked state. I can’t predict the outcome, but I have taken this risk knowingly and, while no one in their right mind should ever attempt to set “The Waste Land” to music, in the hopeful words of T. S. Eliot, These fragments I have shored against my ruins.” —Sting, from the Introduction

His passion for music has been the constant that kept him sane throughout. Life Eagles written by LIFE Magazine and has been published by Time Home Entertainment this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-08-06 with Music categories.

Days spent soaking up the Laurel Canyon vibe and nights spent jamming at the famous Troubadour bar in Los Angeles led the Eagles - whose founding fathers include Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner - to become the quintessential California band. Their music navigated dark desert highways, tequila sunrises, and beyond. Take it easy? The Eagles, unfortunately, failed to follow their own advice. They had glorious harmonies on record that concealed chronic disharmony on tours. Those tours left in their wake a trail of splintered hotel furniture and bathtubs full of Budweiser, often at the hands of renowned guitarist and hard partier Joe Walsh. And yet with those songs, and on those tours, the Eagles conquered the world. Despite the tension and the death of front man Glenn Frey, there was - and is - the music, which still resonates today. LIFE's special edition serves as a tribute to the sound and songs the Eagles created in the 1970s and over the 50 years since - and the legacy that endures.
