The Singer’s Needle offers a bold new approach to the history of twentieth-century Panamá, one that illuminates the nature of power and politics in a small and complex nation. Using novelistic techniques, Vierba explores three crucial episodes in the shaping and erosion of contemporary Panamanian institutions: the establishment of a penal colony on the island of Coiba in 1919, the judicial drama following the murder of President José Antonio Remón Cantera in 1955, and the “disappearance” of a radical priest in 1971. Skillfully blending historical sociology with novelistic narrative and extensive empirical research, and drawing on the works of Michel Foucault among others, Vierba shows the links between power, interpretation, and representation. The result is a book that deftly reshapes conventional methods of historical writing.

Where Pharaohs Dwell written by Patricia Cori and has been published by North Atlantic Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-08-30 with Body, Mind & Spirit categories.

In this thought-provoking book, Patricia Cori takes time from her channeled work as the Scribe to the Speakers of the Sirian High Council to focus on her past-life experiences in ancient Egypt. The book begins dramatically with the traumatic recall of a past Egyptian life, when Cori relives a horrifying death by suffocation—from being buried alive. This experience propels her on a journey of exploration into the question of human immortality, leading her back to Egypt where she unravels the origins of the ancient Egyptians’ obsession with the resurrection of the soul.Cori’s discoveries reveal new perspectives on Egyptian mysteries, new timelines as to the beginnings of the civilization, and controversial ideas that link the earliest Egyptian cultures with even earlier civilizations, such as that of Atlantis. As she returns to sites of her former lives, Cori begins to receive messages through which she relives the past-life regression, guiding her to discover secrets of the ancient Egyptians. Finally, she travels beyond the veil of illusions into the “otherworld” of possibilities that lies beyond physical existence. This exciting book weaves strands of science, history, and metaphysics into a shimmering tapestry of personal discovery.

A Treatise On The Functional Pathology Of The Musculoskeletal System written by William James Brooks, DO and has been published by Gatekeeper Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-10-31 with Medical categories.

In this Treatise on the Functional Pathology of the Musculoskeletal System (FPMSS), Dr Brooks presents a new paradigm for understanding the musculoskeletal system and a scientifically valid—reliable, semiquantifiable, and consistently interpretable—method for examining dysfunction thereof. This first volume presents the fundamentals of the paradigm and is designed for use by a primary care audience. While the paradigm is applicable to the wide variety of clinical conditions potentially amenable to manual medicine and related rehabilitative techniques, this first volume takes chronic, nonspecific musculoskeletal pain syndromes as its focus for application.

The FPMSS paradigm complements orthopedic, rheumatologic, and neurologic understandings of the musculoskeletal system and contrasts with current models of manual medicine in several important respects:

  • Understands the musculoskeletal system (MSS) as an integrated organ system
  • Discriminates questions about physiology from questions about anatomy
  • Discriminates questions about pathology from questions about physiology
  • Differentiates functional pathology from structural pathology
  • Appreciates principles of scientifically valid nomenclature for function and dysfunction of musculoskeletal structures as components of an integrated system
  • Recognizes dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system as inefficient function
  • Shifts the emphasis of examination for dysfunction from malalignment of structure/posture to disturbance of systemic movement
  • Discriminates control of posture and movement from imbalance of available motion
  • Grades available motion deficits using the criterion of proportionality—not merely symmetry—thus revealing otherwise unappreciated dysfunction and allowing for prioritization and profiling
  • Prioritizes mobilization interventions according to specified, ranked criteria
  • Profiles an individual’s motion phenotype based upon patterns of available motion deficits, thus providing “precision” biomechanical medicine

Use of the FPMSS paradigm examination will reduce the incidence of false negative and false positive findings for MSS dysfunction—thus improving the effectiveness, safety, and efficiency of caring for those suffering from chronic musculoskeletal pain.
