Embora a respeito da fé, muitos livros foram escritos ao longo dos anos, temos considerado oportuno conduzir uma investigação bastante completa sobre homens e mulheres listados no capítulo 11 da Epístola aos Hebreus, com a única finalidade de descobrir os vários momentos e as várias situações que caracterizaram a vida dessas pessoas. Sem dúvida, a maneira pela qual lidamos com este trabalho, embora nos envolveu bastante, especialmente em termos do texto bíblico, acreditamos que valeu a pena fazê-lo, pelo inevitável benefício que trará a fim de compreender e avaliar os personagens tratados, especialmente sobre sua fé. Não temos a pretensão de ter feito algumas descobertas surpreendentes, muito menos entrar nesse tipo de interpretação muito forçada e pressionada. Mantivemos a nosso ver, a um nível aceitável, especialmente quando se leva em conta o valor do texto bíblico, como já o havíamos considerado e avaliado. O leitor, obviamente, não deixará de tirar proveito dela, para um exame mais aprofundado, de tudo o que temos escrito neste trabalho. Para citações bíblicas, foi utilizado a "Versão Nuova Diodati " e quando for usada uma outra versão, a indicaremos claramente.
