Lo que nos interesa, por encima de todo, es el hombre Tomás, el intelectual Tomás; incluso, si se quiere, el santo Tomás; pero no, desde luego, un montón de doctrinas cosmológicas, antropológicas, morales, físicas, filosóficas y teológicas que llegaron a expresarse a través de su pluma en el siglo XIII. Es más, suele considerar una tesis tanto más válida cuánto más haya tenido en cuenta los matices, las razones del opuesto y las excepciones previsibles. Sus soluciones pretenden siempre ser integradoras, matizadas, temperantes. Y además, novedosas.
