Il 12 settembre 1993, a Potenza, scompare Elisa Claps, 16 anni. Alla sua amica Eliana ha detto di doversi allontanare solo qualche minuto per incontrare alla chiesa della Santissima Trinità Danilo Restivo, poco più grande di lei, che da tempo la corteggia. Da allora, più nulla. Subito i sospetti dei familiari si concentrano su quel ragazzo un po' strano, che non è in grado di fornire un alibi attendibile. È il principale indiziato eppure viene processato solo per falsa testimonianza. Anche se tutto fin dall'inizio sembrava condurre a lui, una lunga serie di depistaggi ha inquinato le indagini: testimoni che affermavano di aver avvistato Elisa, leggerezze nella raccolta delle prove, false piste costruite ad hoc. Per diciassette lunghi anni la famiglia Claps si è battuta per la verità, convinta che molte delle persone coinvolte abbiano contribuito ad offuscarla. Nel 2010 la svolta: il 17 marzo il cadavere di Elisa viene rinvenuto proprio nel sottotetto della chiesa in cui era sparita. Due mesi dopo le autorità inglesi arrestano Restivo per l'omicidio della vicina di casa Heather Barnett. L'anno successivo arriva la conferma: ci sono tracce del dna di Restivo sulla maglia che Elisa indossava il giorno della scomparsa, come rende noto il 9 marzo 2011 Chi l'ha visto?, che ha sempre seguito da vicino l'intera vicenda. Una scoperta che, come racconta Gildo Claps in queste pagine scritte con Federica Sciarelli, apre molti interrogativi e aggiunge rabbia all'angoscia e alla disperazione: possibile che nessuno abbia mai visto quel corpo prima del ritrovamento ufficiale? Chi aveva interesse a nascondere la verità?
