Today, erotic writing is no longer a male prerogative. Now, women are celebrating their own sensuality through a variety of forms, including erotic fiction. Here are twenty-one pieces from women writers aged between twenty-three and fifty-eight, exploring every aspect of female sexual experience - married and single, lesbian and heterosexual. With insight, with humour, with outright eroticism they reaffirm every woman's right to the pleasures and adventures of sex.

The first interlude is entitled "The Lake," and it involves a journey of self-exploration that takes place in a lush, verdant hideaway. "The Lickin" is a short piece filled with deliciously wicked imagery absolutely designed to curl your toes. "Back to Back Belly to Belly," one of my favorites, is probably the stuff of every woman's fantasies. I had great fun figuring out where all the parts would go! "What's in a Name?" is to get you thinking about how we communicate about the little things. "The Party" is a delightful fantasy full of spontaneity and boldness. I'll bet you'll find yourself wondering what you would do in this situation. "The Stranger" was a definite challenge and one I know I need to think about more. As with many of the interludes, the spirit might move me in an entirely different direction the next time. Take a peek at "Assume the Position," and you'll see what I mean. "Sweet Sticky Thing" pushed me because I allowed myself to be pushed. I guess sometimes what you don't know can be good to you.

This fascinating study explores the pleasures and torments of love and sexuality as depicted in the works of six important French women writers: Rachilde, Colette, Leduc, Wittig, Cixous and Duras. Historically, erotic literature has been dominated by male writers. Feminist critics have argued that its central motifs of voyeurism, sadomasochism, incest and violence to women's bodies are governed by the unconscious fantasies and prejudices of a patriarchal sociocultural order. The contributors question how this sociocultural order has affected the erotic writing of the women writers studied. They explore the opportunities for, and constraints on, women's erotic writing in the early to mid-twentieth century through the works of Rachilde, Colette and Leduc. This is contrasted with the writing of prominent contemporary authors -- Wittig, Cixous and Duras -- to reveal new developments and diversification within the genre. The focus throughout is on how these writers deal with erotic language and rhetoric, their treatment of traditional themes of eroticism, and -- most vital to recent feminist criticism and theory -- their vision of the female body and women's sexual pleasure. The book provides key insights into the development of women's erotic discourse throughout this century and the diversity that characterizes it.

The Pleasures Of The Text written by Elizabeth Locey and has been published by Rowman & Littlefield this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002 with Literary Criticism categories.

Why was Violette Leduc's 1954 novel ThZr_se et Isabelle not published in its entirety until November 2000? Under threat of scandal and obsenity charges, French publisher Gallimard withheld the novel, but Leduc continued to write of her life as a woman writer in wartime Paris, frankly depicting her own and imagined lesbian experiences. Mentored by Simone de Beauvoir and a contemporary of French twentieth-century luminaries Sartre, Camus, Genet, and Cocteau, Leduc is, however, known best as France's great unknown writer. In The Pleasures of the Text, Elizabeth Locey restores Leduc to her rightful place in the canon, bringing to light her singular and important contributions to contemporary literary theory. Locey reads Leduc's works from the perspective of reader seduction, which erodes the divide between body and text. Situating Leduc within a continuum with Emma Bovary and Roland Barthes at its extremes, Locey investigates Leduc's use of the erotic touch, look, and voice to seduce her readers. More than an accessible introduction to an overlooked writer, The Pleasures of the Text confronts and challenges the philosophical debate between pornography and erotica and pins down some of the often slippery ways pleasure is mapped onto the body of the reader.
