La clave para entender el problema moral en Arist�teles est� en el estudio de sus tres tratados de �tica: �tica nicomaquea, �tica eudemia y el que ahora presentamos, Magna moralia, tambi�n llamado Gran �tica, que no es simplemente una colecci�n de extractos de los otros dos tratados, sino una magistral s�ntesis, bajo la forma de una breve serie de tratados.En el libro I de la Magna moralia, se sostiene que el bien supremo para el ser humano no es el bien en general, ni el bien divino, sino un bien concreto, que no es otro que la felicidad, la cual es un bien en s� mismo completo. Sin embargo, esta felicidad requiere de algunos bienes externos. El alma tiene una excelencia o virtud propia, que es el vivir bien. La felicidad humana es la actividad perfecta del alma en un tiempo pleno. Las virtudes se exponen, como en otras obras aristot�licas, partiendo de la divisi�n entre las virtudes �ticas y las virtudes m�s propiamente intelectuales, en correspondencia con la estructura del alma humana, que tendr�a una parte irracional y otra racional.En el libro II la obra estudia el placer, la buena fortuna y la amistad. Tambi�n aparece un an�lisis de la kalokagath�a como virtud abarcadora, que es muy semejante al que se encuentra en la �tica a Eudemo.
