I started writing poetry when I was seventeen years old; I found out that when you put your thoughts into words sometimes magic happens. I'm not talking about genies popping out of a bottle or anything like that, but in how I see things clearer and how beautiful this world truly is. I found out later in life how much easier it was to find a date in high school. I used to try and talk to girls and found out sometimes I'd get a little gun shy and pass up my chance. Then one day, I wrote a poem for this girl I had my eye on. I walked up to her and handed her the poem and then walked away. Later she approached me and we went out on a date. I found the magic potion to breaking the ice (so to speak) was a piece of paper and a writing pen. I learned how to put my thoughts down on a piece of paper, which later I put into a blank book that I would write my poems in. After I was told by at least fifty or so people that I should share these poems to others, I sat down and sorted out the poems I thought could touch your heart the best. I hope my poems are inspirational enough to help you create your own book.

“Beauty in My Eyes” paints the dramatic irony of wanting to live in a world that destroys. In “Our Stairway,” you will fall into a dream that feels like eternity, but is it? “Boomeranged” brings back memories of a time and place irreplaceable. And what does “Saw You,” the six-word poem, have to say? Incredibly heartwarming poetry, thoughtful lines about the world, words on love worth engraving are what you will find between these covers. One Flew Over The Heart will also take you on other extraordinary journeys—about nature, the world, free living, time and place, fantasy and dreams, and love—both dark and light. The spontaneous four-liners read at a glance will stay forever with you, and the rare hand-drawn sketches will etch the words in your heart.

Excerpt from The Heart of a Woman: And Other Poems The poems in this book are intensely femi nine and for me this means more than any thing else that they are deeply human. We are yet scarcely aware, in spite Of our boasted twentieth-century progress, of what lies deeply hidden, of mystery and passion, of domestic love and joy and sorrow, of romantic visions and practical ambitions, in the heart of a woman. The emancipation of woman is yet to be wholly accomplished; though woman has stamped her image on every age Of the world's history, and in the heart of almost every man since time began, it is only a little over half of a century since she has either spoke or acted with a sense of freedom. During this time she has made little more than a start to catch up with man in the wonderful things he has to his credit; and yet all that man has to his credit would scarcely have been achieved except for the devotion and love and inspiring comradeship of woman. I was born and grown up in Iran. After the war between Iraq and Iran, we got back to our small city, Abadan. I finished my guidance & high school there and continue my studies at university and got MA. Furthermore, I like to continue my studies and get Doctorate degree. I started writing poetry when I was a teenager and studying at university. It was in that time that I became interested in English poems and wanted to write to release my soul and bring whatever was in my heart on the paper. Actually I am satisfied by writing English poems. Then I decided to publish my first book in 2002, after that I published my second poetry book (Dream of love) in 2006. I have translated English story books into Persian and published teaching books and articles. Also, I'm fond of painting and like to do landscape and want to follow it to the professional level. This book reflects my thoughts and feelings on many different things and expresses my feelings as the young girl. Voice of the heart is a collection that includes 54 English poems that are my own work. Actually it was published first in 2002 and included 80 poems but in this collection I excluded some of them. Poetry is the expression of our soul and a reflection of our deepest emotions. My poems are inspired by my thoughts on life. Some of the poems really reflect my inner feelings. Some express realities and the grief of people around me. I dedicate my book to my parents. I hope the readers like this book.

This book of poetry and miniature stories is a collection of poems written over the years. One of the most important things in life is freedom of expression. If you cannot verbally express yourself, you should be able to write it all out for peace of mind. Sometimes just sitting and listening to others life stories can be very interesting and eye-opening, it gives me ideas of things to write about and makes me aware that my stories aren't so different from others. There are so many people that I have come in contact with who have amazing stories and should consider putting them in writing. In this book I speak about the good, the bad and the needs improvements. Life can be a journey and take you on rides you never imagined. Some of the rides can be painful, some loving and romantic, others horrifying, to the point of wanting to give up, but in the end we all have an inner strength that allows us to pick up the pieces and move forward.

This, The Shapes Of Natural Things, is a book of poems about nature, love, God and the intersection of plant, animal, human and divine things. It is written in rhyme and meter, with the exception of the limerick which is not strictly metrical. The poems in this book are mainly dedicated to one woman, but there are others to and about other friends, as well as about issues that interest me in the realm of religion, philosophy psychology etc. It is the third book I have written under the name Blake Townsend Romanov, the others being Pare My Heart and Draw Me A Spirit. Those books are dedicated to other women, and as with them, I have used a pseudonym not only for myself but for the muse. In spite of the singularity of its dedication, this book, like the previous two, is meant to be enjoyed by all. As a poet, I indulged in rich language and bountiful melody and my goal is not so much to change poetry as to provide people with the very sort of joy for which people in the past as well as today have looked to poetry. I am an entertainer, though my thoughts are earnestly given. In my view, poetry is a region in which the logical and the aesthetic blend: ideas can be beautiful, especially when they are adorned with choice words. That said, I very much want my poems to be understood as well as to impress. I feel that metaphor, however, is a type of lying that leads ultimately to truth. We were pulled away from the literal truth of what is being discussed only to resolve metaphor and the object of description in a metaphysical unity of meaning. That being said adorning of ideas is not merely in lexicon or comparison; it must be sensory as well. Thus I have attempted to draw on the beauty of natural forms and natural life and hope that those sensations, especially images, stand alone as beautiful even independently of the critical context. Finally, I have tried to make this book thematically related throughout, and one of my major themes has been the relation between the will of the spirit, and natural things, instinct, and the binding of cause effect, the limitation that come with inhabiting form and with our perception which is bound to form. Thus I call it: The Shapes Of Natural Things.

Feeling lost and alone? Have a broken heart? Is there just nothing on television and you don't feel like going out? Then make a coffee, get your pajamas on, get comfortable and grab my book. Curl up on the couch and read. I would like my poems to, in some way, help mend those lost, broken hearts out there. I hope that in some way people can read my poetry and just take that journey into my mind and be able to be on the same level with me. The poems in my book represent everything that has happened in my life. They represent my family, friends and great passions in my life, including The Lord of the Rings. They also represent all the pain that I went through as a child growing up. Poetry, to me, is a form of release when things in my life get to an all-time low or when my life couldn't be any better. They help me express myself in the form of poetry. I think a lot of my poems, including those about broken hearts, will be close to the heart for a lot of people going through the same things in their lives. Maybe they will give them some comfort.

'Bright Dead Things buoyed me in this dismal year. I'm thankful for this collection, for its wisdom and generosity, for its insistence on holding tight to beauty even as we face disintegration and destruction.' Celeste Ng, author of Everything I Never Told You A book of bravado and introspection, of feminist swagger and harrowing loss, Bright Dead Things considers how we build our identities out of place and human contact - tracing in intimate detail the ways the speaker's sense of self both shifts and perseveres as she moves from New York City to rural Kentucky, loses a dear parent, ages past the capriciousness of youth and falls in love. In these extraordinary poems Ada Limón's heart becomes a 'huge beating genius machine' striving to embrace and understand the fullness of the present moment. 'I am beautiful. I am full of love. I am dying,' the poet writes. Building on the legacies of forebears such as Frank O'Hara, Sharon Olds and Mark Doty, Limón's work is consistently generous, accessible, and 'effortlessly lyrical' (New York Times) - though every observed moment feels complexly thought, felt and lived.
