FISCHGOLD (Paris); The Teaching of Hypnosis, chairmen Dr. C. CEDERCREUTZ (Hamina) and Dr. H. RosEN (Baltimore); Hypnosis and Pain, chairman Dr. M.H. ERICKSON (Phoenix); Hypnosis and the Psychotropic Drugs, chairman Dr. B.B. RAGINSKY (Montreal). The official languages of the Congress (German, French and English) were not always the speakers' mother tongues. A certain amount of editing was therefore necessary before publication, and this retarded the printing. Approximately half of the papers appear in this volume. We wish to thank the following organizations for the help they granted the Congress. Prof. J. Though it has now fallen out of favor among many practitioners and scholars, Freud's concept of psychoanalysis -- an approach that focuses primarily on adverse events in early childhood and irrational drives that are overcome via extended talk therapy -- was and continues to be enormously influential, not only in the realm of psychology, but also in the larger culture. This volume offers a comprehensive overview of psychoanalysis from the point of view of the field's creator. As part of our mission to publish great works of literary fiction and nonfiction, Sheba Blake Publishing Corp. is extremely dedicated to bringing to the forefront the amazing works of long dead and truly talented authors.

Sexual Inequalities And Social Justice written by Niels Teunis and has been published by Univ of California Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Psychology categories.

This pioneering collection of ten ethnographically rich essays signals the emergence of a new paradigm of social analysis committed to understanding and analyzing social oppression in the context of sexuality and gender. The contributors, an interdisciplinary group of social scientists representing anthropology, sociology, public health, and psychology, illuminate the role of sexuality in producing and reproducing inequality, difference, and structural violence among a range of populations in various geographic, historical, and cultural arenas. In particular, the essays consider racial minorities including Hispanics, Koreans, and African Americans; discuss disabled people; examine issues including substance abuse, sexual coercion, and HIV/AIDS; and delve into other topics including religion and politics. Rather than emphasizing sexuality as an individual trait, the essays view it as a social phenomenon, focusing in particular on cultural meaning and real-world processes of inequality such as racism and homophobia. The authors address the complex and challenging question of how the research under discussion here can make a real contribution to the struggle for social justice.

Mesopotamia written by Jean Bottéro and has been published by University of Chicago Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995-06-15 with History categories.

Our ancestors, the Mesopotamians, invented writing and with it a new way of looking at the world. In this collection of essays, the French scholar Jean Bottero attempts to go back to the moment which marks the very beginning of history. To give the reader some sense of how Mesopotamian civilization has been mediated and interpreted in its transmission through time, Bottero begins with an account of Assyriology, the discipline devoted to the ancient culture. This transmission, compounded with countless discoveries, would not have been possible without the surprising decipherment of the cuneiform writing system. Bottero also focuses on divination in the ancient world, contending that certain modes of worship in Mesopotamia, in their application of causality and proof, prefigure the "scientific mind."
