Applied Prismatic And Reflective Optics written by Dennis Frank Vanderwerf and has been published by SPIE-International Society for Optical Engineering this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010 with Fermat's theorem categories.

From the early ground and polished prism facets of glass lighthouse Fresnel lenses to modern microreplicated flexible Fresnel lenses for solar concentrators, new applications of prismatic optical components for light control are constantly being developed. In addition, innovations utilizing single and compound prismatic and reflective optical components are emerging in the fields of metrology, polarization control, projection systems, illumination, and display lighting, among others. State-of-the-art multilayer optical coatings have enabled novel prism and reflector geometries to be developed for specific functions. The techniques and examples presented in this book should provide a good background to analyze, evaluate, and understand prismatic and reflector applications described in the literature. The material in this book may inspire readers themselves to create novel and useful devices utilizing prismatic and reflective optical components.

What are the political and aesthetic dimensions of video art, documentary, and global cinema in contemporary image culture? Lynes makes visible how sites of political struggle, exploitation, and armed conflict can be interpreted through a feminist politics of location, attentive to the frictions and flows within transnational circuits of exchange.

This volume explores the social and economic processes involved in the manufacture of obsidian prismatic blades, one of the sharpest cutting instruments ever produced in the prehistoric world. Focusing on ancient Mesoamerica, contributors examine the variation in the way the blades were manufactured and the causes behind their variation.

Analysis And Optimization Of Prismatic And Axisymmetric Shell Structures written by Ernest Hinton and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Shell-type structures can be found almost everywhere. They appear in natural forms but also as man-made, load-bearing components in diverse engineering systems. Mankind has struggled to replicate nature’s optimization of such structures but using modern computational tools it is now possible to analyse, design and optimise them systematically. Analysis and Optimization of Prismatic and Axisymmetric Shell Structures features: comprehensive coverage of the background theory of shell structures; development and implementation of reliable, creative and efficient computational tools for static and free-vibration analysis and structural optimization of variable-thickness shells and folded-plate structures; integrated computer-aided curve and surface modelling tools and automatic mesh generation, structural analysis sensitivity analysis and mathematical programming methods; well-documented, downloadable Fortran software for these techniques using finite element and finite strip simulations which can be readily adapted by the reader for the solution of practical problems or for use within a teaching or research environment. Written by leading experts in finite element and finite strip methods, Analysis and Optimization of Prismatic and Axisymmetric Shell Structures will be of great interest to researchers in structural mechanics and in automotive, aerospace and civil engineering as well as to designers from all fields using shell structures for their strength-per-unit-mass advantages.

An Intelligent Inspection Planning System For Prismatic Parts On Cmms written by Slavenko M. Stojadinović and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-02-09 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book examines an intelligent system for the inspection planning of prismatic parts on coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). The content focuses on four main elements: the engineering ontology, the model of inspection planning for prismatic parts on CMMs, the optimisation model of the measuring path based on an ant-colony approach, and the model of probe configuration and setup planning based on a genetic algorithm. The model of inspection planning for CMMs developed here addresses inspection feature construction, the sampling strategy, probe accessibility analysis, automated collision-free operation, and probe path planning. The proposed model offers a novel approach to intelligent inspection, while also minimizing human involvement (and thus the risk of human error) through intelligent planning of the probe configuration and part setup. The advantages of this approach include: reduced preparation times due to the automatic generation of a measuring protocol; potential optimisation of the measuring probe path, i.e., less time needed for the actual measurement; and increased planning process autonomy through minimal human involvement in the setup analysis and probe configuration.

This book cuts through the powerful mythology surrounding Los Angeles to reveal the causes of inequality in a city that has weathered rapid population change, economic restructuring, and fractious ethnic relations. The sources of disadvantage and the means of getting ahead differ greatly among the city's myriad ethnic groups. The demand for unskilled labor is stronger here than in other cities, allowing Los Angeles's large population of immigrant workers with little education to find work in light manufacturing and low-paid service jobs. A less beneficial result of this trend is the increased marginalization of the city's low-skilled black workers, who do not enjoy the extended ethnic networks of many of the new immigrant groups and who must contend with persistent negative racial stereotypes. Patterns of residential segregation are also more diffuse in Los Angeles, with many once-black neighborhoods now split evenly between blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and other minorities. Inequality in Los Angeles cannot be reduced to a simple black-white divide. Nonetheless, in this thoroughly multicultural city, race remains a crucial factor shaping economic fortunes. A Volume in the Multi-City Study of Urban Inequality
