Esta obra nace con una modesta y única finalidad: servir de guía y orientación a los estudiantes de las diversas especialidades de la Diplomatura de Maestro que han de cursar la asignatura Bases Psicológicas de la Educación Especial. En el capítulo 1 se hace una revisión de lo que se entiende por fundamentación psicológica de la educación especial y se analiza el concepto de necesidades educativas especiales. El capítulo 2 se centra en el análisis del diseño instruccional en el ámbito de la educación especial y cómo se aborda éste a través del programa de integración escolar y de los recursos psicoeducativos disponibles. Y en el capítulo 3 se describen los factores determinantes (de riesgo, teratológicos y sociales) de las necesidades educativas especiales. This books arises from the observation that mainstream psychology, especially work and organisational psychology (WOP), suffers from critical limitations in its attempts to deal with the complexities of work as a cultural phenomenon. We can only mention a few examples here. In the WOP field, especially in Anglo- Saxon tradition, work experiences are seen through the lenses of traditional behavioural approaches, whereas culture is seen as a ‘software of the mind’, to use a popular definition found in this field (based on cross-cultural mainstream psychology). ‘Competences’, to take another example, are thought of as something that do or do not people have inside them. Suffering, like stress (a common work-based problem of our times), is considered to be dependent on a person’s personality, perceptions or as a set of behaviours triggered by facing an ‘objective’ environment. Even meaning-making process can be found to be defined from a WOP mainstream point of view: meanings are ‘social cognitions’ shared by people by means of unidirectional socialisation processes. Therefore, the goal of this book is to deliver to the reader a new and challenging theoretical and methodological tool box, inspired by insights developed from a broad cultural psychological perspective. Its focus is on the consideration of work and organisations based on core concepts developed inside cultural psychology. Therefore, it is designed to discuss potential extensions of these concepts to work psychology.

Del mismo modo que los artistas eligen temas que reflejan sus intereses personales, los científico seleccionan sus problemas de investigación sus campos de especialización en función de sus inquietudes. Algunos psicólogos educativos estudian el aprendizaje (como llega una persona a saber algo) otras se ocupan de la motivación (que mueve una persona a actuar de una forma y no de otra). Además, hay psicólogos educativos que intentar averiguar más datos sobre la socialización (cómo una persona aprende a conducirse en sociedad). Los psicólogos educativos tienden a utilizar dos grandes métodos en su trabajo: el educativo y el inductivo. En el método deductivo, el científico utiliza la lógica y una información general para formular una solución posible a un problema dado. Luego comprueba esa solución en varias situaciones típicas, por lo tanto, en el método deductivo el razonamiento va de lo general especifico. En el método inductivo, el científico observa muchos hechos diferentes para resolver un determinado tipo de problema. A partir de esas observaciones. Esboza una conclusión y formula posibles soluciones a problemas similares. El método inductivo se razona lógica y sistemáticamente de lo especifico - general.
