Dimensionless quantities, such as p, e, and f are used in mathematics, engineering, physics, and chemistry. In recent years the dimensionless groups, as demonstrated in detail here, have grown in significance and importance in contemporary mathematical and computer modeling as well as the traditional fields of physical modeling. This book offers the most comprehensive and up to date resource for dimensionless quantities, providing not only a summary of the quantities, but also a clarification of their physical principles, areas of use, and other specific properties across multiple relevant fields. Presenting the most complete and clearly explained single resource for dimensionless groups, this book will be essential for students and researchers working across the sciences. Includes approximately 1,200 dimensionless quantities Features both classic and newly developing fields Easy to use with clear organization and citations to relevant works

The first IUPAC Manual of Symbols and Terminology for Physicochemical Quantities and Units (the Green Book) of which this is the direct successor, was published in 1969, with the object of 'securing clarity and precision, and wider agreement in the use of symbols, by chemists in different countries, among physicists, chemists and engineers, and by editors of scientific journals'. Subsequent revisions have taken account of many developments in the field, culminating in the major extension and revision represented by the 1988 edition under the simplified title Quantities, Units and Symbols in Physical Chemistry. This 2007, Third Edition, is a further revision of the material which reflects the experience of the contributors with the previous editions. The book has been systematically brought up to date and new sections have been added. It strives to improve the exchange of scientific information among the readers in different disciplines and across different nations. In a rapidly expanding volume of scientific literature where each discipline has a tendency to retreat into its own jargon this book attempts to provide a readable compilation of widely used terms and symbols from many sources together with brief understandable definitions. This is the definitive guide for scientists and organizations working across a multitude of disciplines requiring internationally approved nomenclature.

Quantity Surveying Practice: The Nuts and Bolts is a practical guide to quantity surveying in building construction. Due to the increasing expectations of quality and performance from project clients, quantity surveyors must improve their professional skills to solve a variety of intricate problems and disputes confronting the demanding construction market. This practical book focuses on the basic concepts underlying the technical aspects of quantity surveying and contains many worked examples together with useful figures and real-life cases to help readers digest and understand the essentials and become better professionals as a result. This book is organised and structured into seven chapters. Chapter 1 is about the estimation of construction costs. Chapter 2 gives an overview of tendering and tender documentation. Chapter 3 examines the procedure of tender examination and the approach to contract award. Chapter 4 reviews the whole process of an interim valuation from the submission of a payment application by the contractor to the issuance of an interim valuation by the quantity surveyor, identifying the key issues within the process. Chapter 5 examines the topic of construction claims. Chapter 6 addresses the cost control and monitoring in connection with construction projects. Chapter 7 is about dispute management and three commonly used dispute resolution mechanisms, namely mediation, adjudication and arbitration are introduced. This book is essential reading for students on quantity surveying and construction management programmes, as well as the APC candidates pursuing the professional quantity surveying pathway. It is also a useful reference for practicing quantity surveyors.

The Metaphysics Of Quantities written by J. E. Wolff and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-05-27 with Philosophy categories.

What are physical quantities, and in particular, what makes them quantitative? This book articulates and defends an original answer to this important, insufficiently understood question through the novel position of substantival structuralism. This position argues that quantitativeness is an irreducible feature of attributes, and quantitative attributes are best understood as substantival structured spaces. The book first explores what it means for an attribute to be quantitative, and what metaphysical implications a commitment to quantitative attributes has. It then sets the stage to address the metaphysical and ontological consequences of the existence of quantitative attributes.

Intermediate Quantities written by Philip Peterson and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-07-24 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

This title was first published in 2000: Intermediate quantifiers express logical quantities which fall between Aristotle's two quantities of categorical propositions - universal and particular. "Few", "many" and "most" express the most commonly referred to intermediate quantifiers, but this book argues that an infinite number can be understood through a deeper examination of the logical nature of all intermediate quantifiers. Presenting and analyzing the logical and linguistic features of intermediate quantifiers, in a fashion typical of traditional logic, Philip L. Peterson presents an account integrating the logic and semantics of intermediate quantifiers with the two traditional quantities by traditional methods. Having introduced the basic idea of how to approach the task in the first chapter, with heavy emphasis on the linguistic meanings and ordinary uses of English intermediate quantifier expressions, Peterson then undertakes the task of completely integrating the three basic intermediate quantities into traditional logic in the following chapter.
