L'objectif de cette thèse est de créer de nouveaux modèles dynamiques dans les domaines de l'économie et de l'écologie, en utilisant et en obtenant de nouveaux outils mathématiques dans le cadre de l'analyse multivoque, des inclusions différentielles et de la théorie de la viabilité. Le premier résultat est un modèle prédateur-proie obtenu au cours d'un travail commun avec Noël Bonneuil de l'Institut National d'Etudes Démographiques. A partir des équations de Lotka-Volterra, on modélise plusieurs jeux dynamiques entre prédateur et proie, qui sont lies à des contraintes différentes selon les objectifs des joueurs, soit leur viabilité individuelle, soit leur coexistence. On détermine non seulement dans l'espace d'états l'ensemble ferme le plus grand ou des évolutions viables sont possibles, mais aussi la régulation (feedback) de telles solutions. Puis, on développe un modèle keynésien avec le professeur Jean Cartelier de l'Université Paris X Nanterre. Au lieu d'étudier les équilibres stationnaires et le comportement asymptotique en fonction de quelques paramètres de bifurcation, on traite le système dynamique comme un système contrôle ou les variables d'état et les variables de contrôle sont soumises à des contraintes de viabilité. Ensuite, on utilise les outils de la théorie de la viabilité pour étudier des oscillations forcées. Le terme d'excitation est considéré comme un contrôle pour maintenir l'état du système dans un ensemble de contraintes donné. Enfin, on étudie un principe de régulation hiérarchique pour des systèmes contrôlés avec deux régulons. Ceci permet dans le cadre des jeux dynamiques de modéliser un jeu hiérarchique, c'est à dire un jeu ou l'un de deux joueurs a un pouvoir d'inertie plus grand.

Much of the debate about development in the past decade pitted proponents of unfettered markets against advocates of developmental states. Yet, in many developing countries what best explains variations in economic performance is not markets or states but rather the character of relations between business and government. The studies in Business and the State in Developing Countries identify a range of close, collaborative relations between bureaucrats and capitalists that enhance elements of economic performance and defy conventional expectations that such relations lead ineluctably to rent-seeking, corruption, and collusion. All based on extensive field research, the essays contrast collaborative and collusive relations in a wide range of developing countries, mostly in Latin America and Asia, and isolate the conditions under which collaboration is most likely to emerge and survive.
