Aktuelle Empfehlungen für die Diagnostik sowie für medikamentöse und nichtmedikamentöse Therapie bei älteren Patienten mit psychotischen Symptomen.Psychotische Symptome treten bei psychischen Störungen im Alter häufig auf. Sie sind vergesellschaftet mit depressiven Störungen, Demenz oder dem Delir. Ebenso sind chronifizierte Formen von Schizophrenien und Wahnstörungen im Alter nicht selten. Die schwerwiegenden Symptome können die Lebensführung der Betroffenen beeinträchtigen und ihre soziale Isolation verstärken. Umgekehrt kann eine Isolation, verstärkt durch die sensorischen Einschränkungen oder Immobilität, auch die Entwicklung psychotischer Symptome fördern.Bei Psychosen im Alter ist es wichtig, Begleiterkrankungen und soziale Faktoren zu berücksichtigen. Die bislang fehlenden Empfehlungen für die Diagnostik und Therapie dieses Störungsbildes in dieser Altersgruppe sind nun im Rahmen einer interdisziplinären und interprofessionellen Arbeitsgruppe unter Leitung der Schweizerischen Gesellschaft für Alterspsychiatrie und -Psychotherapie (SGAP) erarbeitet worden.Im Fokus stehen insbesondere neue Entwicklungen bei den nicht-medikamentösen Therapieansätzen, die in dieser Altersgruppe aufgrund der besseren Verträglichkeit einen hohen Stellenwert haben.Die Umsetzung der Empfehlungen in der Praxis wird durch Fallvignetten erläutert, die wiederholt aufgegriffen und um die Inhalte des jeweiligen Kapitels erweitert diskutiert werden.
