These twenty essays examine continuity and change in the language of Latin prose, from its emergence to the twelfth century AD. Issues debated include traditional distinctions between primitive archaic and sophisticated classical Latin, and between superior classical and inferior Silver Latin. A broad range of Latin authors are covered, including Caesar and Cicero, Bede and William of Malmesbury. An extensive introduction traces the volume's recurring themes - the use of poetic diction in prose, archaism, sentence structure, and bilingualism. The diversity of approaches makes this an essential handbook for all those interested in Latin language and literature.

Dutch Typography In The Sixteenth Century written by Paul Valkema Blouw and has been published by BRILL this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-06-03 with Literary Criticism categories.

When compiling the short-title catalogue of books printed in the sixteenth-century northern Netherlands from 1541 to 1600, Paul Valkema Blouw was confronted with a large number of ‘problem cases’, such as anonymously and/or surreptitiously printed editions, fictitious printers and undated or falsely dated printed works. By minutely analysing the typefaces, initials, vignettes and other ornaments used, drawing from his extensive knowledge of secondary literature, archival information and his unrivalled typographic memory, he not only managed to attribute a surprising number of these publications to a printer, but also could establish the period of time in which, as well as the places where, they must have been printed. These findings and the ways in which they were reached are described in the present collection of papers. They are of paramount importance to scholars engaged in research of the period concerned, whether in the field of church history, national history or book history

Valencia is Spain's third largest city and is a hotbed of vibrant street art. While elaborate murals, wheat pastes and stencils can be found throughout the city, the scene's epicenter is Barrio del Carmen, the neighborhood that comprises ?old town.' In this part of the city a great number of old structures have been razed to make room for new developments. The building lots are usually surrounded by temporary walls, which Valencia's most prolific street artists use as their canvases.
