Dr. Gregory L. Smith, the author of the best selling guidebook on CBD, delivers the first ever patient-focused and scientifically-supported book for individuals who want to learn about the benefits of THCV.THCV has several unique effects on the body which are very different from both CBD and THC. THCV causes the exact opposite of the 'munchies' and works by blocking the CB1 receptors on certain centers in the brain that are associated with hunger. This results in a decreased release of dopamine in response to seeing or smelling our favorite foods, and also a decrease in the release of the hormone that causes the stomach to rumble with hunger pangs and increases the sensation of felling full. This makes THCV the ultimate "appetie-killer," so to speak. Unlike all other appetite suppressants currently available, THCV works without causing the jitters or by increasing blood pressure. It is a very natural way to decrease one's appetite. Studies suggest that the average adult can expect 2 to 2.5 lbs of weight loss per month by adding a twice daily dose to their health regimen. The book also discusses several other nutraceuticals hat work in unison with THCV for weight loss, including curicumin, cinnamon, green tea extracts, chromium and other probiotics. Loaded with pertinent studies and science-based information, this guidebook also provides detailed instructions on how to dose THCV and how to work closely with physicians.

Introducing the next BIG THING in hemp extract, THCV. Like CBD, THCV is extracted from hemp oil and does not cause euphoria or getting "high." It does not cause addiction. It is very safe and effective. THCV blocks our appetite and reduces hunger pangs for quick, healthy weight loss. It also works with the body to help naturally improve blood sugar and blood lipid levels. This delightful book provides a concise history of hemp and cannabis sativa throughout history and a discussion of the laws related to hemp and cannabis. This is followed by a discussion of how THCV works with the body's endocannabinoid system (ECS) to reduce the effects of food aromas, and taste and decrease our appetite and hunger pangs. It also discusses how over time daily use of THCV modulates our blood sugars and blood lipids to healthier levels. Obesity is the result of ingesting more calories than those burned during exercise and normal daily activities. A relevant statistic in overweight people is the body mass index, which is at or above thirty. Obesity is the accumulation of fatty deposits in the human body. It has become a public health problem worldwide, affecting all social classes. There is an estimated 1 billion overweight people worldwide, 300 million of whom are already obese, and by 2025 these figures could multiply. The consequences of this disease revolve around cardiovascular and metabolic problems, not to mention respiratory disorders. That is why every obese patient has a short life expectancy, since the long-term success rate is low and, usually, the weight loss is regained in a short time so that the comorbidities associated with it reappear. Therefore, the affected person begins to consume large amounts of medications to treat all the complications of obesity. Several receptors comprise the endocannabinoid system (ECS. The most important are CB1 and CB2, and the endogenous ligands called anandamide (AEA) and 2-Arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG), enzymes responsible for their formation and degradation. We will discover, in this audiobook, that the endocannabinoid system is relevant in modulating the reward and reinforcement circuit of ingestion. Because in the mesolimbic system are CB1 receptors with dopaminergic D1 and D2 receptors. Rimonabant, a selective CB1 receptor antagonist, is part of the traditional obesity treatment. The receptor inhibits the cannabinoid agonist's pharmacological effects "in vitro" and "in vivo". Rimonabant is auxiliary to diet and exercise when treating obese patients (with body mass index ≥ 30 kg/m2), or overweight (BMI > 27 kg/m2), with associated risk factors, such as type 2 diabetes or dyslipidemia. However, in 2008 this drug was withdrawn from the market because of the increase in suicide rates linked to it. However, THCV (tetrahydrocannabivarin), a natural phytocannabinoid with a similar chemical structure to THC, but might present low psychoactive effects. It is one of several active ingredients of Cannabis sativa. And finally, we will know how cannabinoids work in obesity as well as their dosage. At Pharmacology University, we care about you and your health. It is the reason behind why we decided to include in our series of books this interesting topic for you and your family. Enjoy it!

Truly global in scope and with contributions from leading researchers around the world, The Handbook of Cannabis is the definitive resource on this fascinating drug. Combining scientific perspectives and clinical applications, it covers a vast array of topics, from why over the centuries cannabis has been used as a medicine, through the regulations facing those wishing to self-administer cannabis or provide cannabis-based medicines, to the chemical structure of its many constituents and the rapidly growing group of synthetic cannabinoids that are currently being used for 'legal highs'. With each chapter written by a group of one or more internationally recognised subject experts, it provides academics and researchers with authoritative scientific material on the main pharmacological actions and their effects, as well as their pharmacokinetics, metabolism, and forensic detection. In addition it also examines the complex morphology, cultivation, harvesting, and processing of cannabis and the ways in which the plant's chemical composition can be controlled. As well as offering a raft of scientific information there is extensive coverage of cannabinoid-based medicines. Helping readers to identify and evaluate their benefits, chapters explore pharmacological actions and the effects that seem to underlie approved therapeutic uses, how they are currently used to treat certain disorders, and the ever-growing number of wide-ranging potential clinical applications. There is also coverage of both the legal and illegal sources of cannabis, including 'coffee shops' and 'cannabis dispensaries'. The complex issue of 'recreational cannabis' is also tackled. The sought-after and adverse psychological and non-psychological effects are described and discussions are included on how some adverse effects can be lessened by at least one constituent of cannabis, and that it might be possible to reduce the harm that cannabis does to some by changing current regulatory policies. The Handbook of Cannabis is a one-stop reference; essential reading for all clinicians, pharmacologists, psychologists, and psychiatrists interested in this drug, as well as those working in the field of public health.

The first foundational text on the clinical use of cannabis and cannabinoid therapies. Despite thousands of years of medical use and an impressive record of safety, versatility, and efficacy, Cannabis sativa has existed outside the modern pharmacopeia since the 1940s. Primarily driven by popular demand, this botanical has returned to health care, but most clinicians lack the knowledge essential for identifying candidates for treatment, guiding patients, maximizing benefit, and minimizing harm. Dustin Sulak provides health care professionals—including physicians, psychologists, pharmacists, and nurses—with an accessible and evidence-based reference that empowers them to intelligently discuss cannabis with their patients and implement cannabis and cannabinoid therapies with confidence. Based on over a decade of clinical experience and an extensive review of the literature, this detailed and scientifically accurate guide includes the history of cannabis in medicine, the foundations of endocannabinoid physiology, the pharmacological effects of cannabis’ myriad active constituents, the clinical utility of its various preparations, and specific strategies and cautions for treating the most common conditions presenting to a cannabis clinician. This guide is an essential resource for practitioners of any specialty field or experience level who wish to improve their patients’ outcomes, harness the healing potential of the endocannabinoid system, and wield a powerful solution to many of healthcare’s challenges.
