Jo Whiley is someone millions of us recognise but very few of us know. Jo's a mother, sister, DJ, wife and music-industry insider who throughout her career - and in an age of fleeting celebrity - has earned the respect of her peers and fans by simply being herself and for her constant enthusiasm, be it for established rock 'n roll royalty or emerging talent. For Jo Whiley, it's all about the music. My World in Motion offers a unique opportunity to get to know the real Jo Whiley. From her musical epiphany (being carried over the crowd at a Clash concert) to when she became friends with John Peel at Glastonbury (over some very short shorts - his not hers) and interviewed Bono (surviving a power-cut on vodka). My World in Motion is an honest, funny, self-deprecating account of Jo's professional coming of age, and what it means to be a private person in a very public world.

In 1941, on a farm outside Troy, Missouri, a boy named Homer Page was born. Blind since birth, Homer has lived his life in vibrant determination to be a part of the game. He has known success and failure, felt hope and heartache, and experienced joy and despair. He struggled to find the courage to act and the wisdom to accept what he could not change. Through it all, he never let circumstances become limitations. Homer received two letters in wrestling from the University of Missouri, earned his doctorate from the University of Chicago, and went on to teach at the University of Colorado. He later pursued and enjoyed a career in elective office. He is a leader in the disability rights movement and has lectured on the topic of the rehabilitation of the blind in both Sweden and Poland. In this memoir, he shares the story of his lifethe challenges and disappointments that he overcame on the way to a meaningful and successful personal and professional career. But he also tells a larger story about living with disability in mainstream America. Homer explores the joy and pain that he and others have experienced as American society has changed over the past seventy years. Most of all, however, his is the story of a realist who refuses to give up. In the end, it is a story of the affirmation of life and the joy of living.

This book was devised with a single intention: for people to understand how the brain works. Society, along with evolution, teaches us to rely mainly on the longterm memory area of the brain, yet this can be the underlying cause of many mental and physical problems. Welcome To My World has been written in a deliberately simplistic way so that everyone can understand it. Hopefully it might encourage you to question how you use your own brain and challenge you to think in a very different way. Whilst there are many books written by so-called experts about the physiology and function of the brain, their authors rarely have personal insight into how seemingly 'normal' brain activity can impact negatively on overall wellbeing, or how the brain can be re-trained with amazing consequential benefi ts to health.

Time and world in the current global village concern everybody and everyone, whether young or old must pay at least some attention to correctly gauge the 'prevailing winds' blowing in and around the world at that time. The complex nature of the time and the world is very difficult to untangle and hopelessly mired in depths we may not know or things of which we have got no comprehension. In this book, I have tried to summarize events, situations, personalities, and at occasions, a few stories that bring deeper comprehension of the world and its affairs in the larger canvas of the political and cultural dynamics of the time and their interplays as I see them in moving the world forward. The topics on which I wrote were all topics on which I felt rather strongly about or topics that I felt important. I hope they are enjoyed and appreciated by all those who read them. While writing the book, I was often tempted to add my own comments about what I felt about the issue at hand, but in the end I successfully resisted such temptations and restricted myself to the truth as I saw it. So this book is a publication on world affairs with just occasional comments of universal nature here and there.Another problem I encountered while writing this book was the abundance of materials to select from. Several events of recent origin raced through my mind for space, but I had to be choosy to limit myself to the planned format of my book. Further, recent developments are too recent and hot to gauge dispassionately and earn space for objective analyses. Therefore, I avoided such materials as much as possible in this volume. This holds true about India also. Though this book is India-centric in world affairs, I avoided all opinions and comments on India related matters for the fear of being partisan. This volume is not planned as a platform for such contents. Nec Dextrorsum, Nec Sinistrorsum is the theme here and I tried my best to maintain it.Often, I had been tempted to stray into topics quite unrelated to the theme of the book. Managing it and keeping my course on the track was the toughest part of my work. "My Time, My World" opened up limitless vista for entry. Again, I succeeded in confining myself to my Lakshmana Rekha.

This is chapter two to ten of a three-part series discussing the astrophysical cause of mental and biological conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, MPD syndrome, autism, homosexuality, personality, gender, "race" and so forth. It also analyzes the correspondence of these conditions to humanity in general and concludes that all the activities of people stem from astrophysically-caused gender elements that conduct people's lives from their socio-physiological behavior, to their security, spiritual and political needs. It also observes the convergence of these elements that lead to relative peace.

This volume attempts to show that it is vital that we address the motif of the 'end' in contemporary world – but that this cannot be done without thinking it anew.

In a memoir as candid and unconventional as Johnny Weir himself, the three-time U.S. National Champion figure skater who electrified the 2010 Winter Olympics shares his glamorous, gritty, heartbreaking, hopeful, and just plain fabulous life story. How does a boy from rural Pennsylvania become an all-American original style icon on the ice and off, adored by fans around the world, and hailed as “The Lady Gaga of skating” (Salon.com)? The answers are here, in his invigorating and thoroughly entertaining chronicle of the emergence of his natural talents for skating and horseback riding; the physically and emotionally grinding path to becoming a champion; a family who sacrificed everything to support his passions; an ability to rise again after the most devastating defeats and never look back; an appreciation of style (from his mom) and self-discipline (that would be from his dad); and a fearless confidence to say whatever’s on his mind. Because when you’re Johnny Weir, you don’t worry about what other people think. You let everyone else worry about that for you. Welcome to his world.

In recent times, Technology (T), Innovation (I) and Entrepreneurship (E) have become matters of critical importance to the economic and competitve success of nations, firms, and startups. Yet a depressingly large number of people-politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen, engineers, academics-are still locked up in the 'isms' and managerial mindsets of the last century. One reason is the paucity of academic books addressing TIE issues in a manner empathetic to the concerns of developed as well as developing societies. This book is the first part of a new textbook trilogy that seeks to fill this gap. A special feature is the inclusion of comparative insights derived by the author during his academic pursuits in India, the UK, Hong Kong/China, and the USA. Part I (this book) examines TIE interactions from the perspectives of the world and nation-building. Parts II and III will do the same from the perspectives of individual firms and startups respectively.
