The Collected Works Of Spinoza Volumes I And Ii written by Benedictus de Spinoza and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-06-13 with Philosophy categories.

The Collected Works of Spinoza: Complete Digital Edition, combining volumes I and II, provides for the first time in English, a truly satisfactory edition of all of Spinoza's writings, with accurate and readable translations, based on the best critical editions of the original-language texts, done by a scholar who has published extensively on the philosopher’s work. The first volume contains Spinoza’s single most important work, the Ethics, and four earlier works: the Treatise on the Emendation of the Intellect, the Short Treatise on God, Man, and His Well-Being, Descartes’ "Principles of Philosophy," and Metaphysical Thoughts. Also included are Spinoza’s letters from the periods when these works were being written. The centerpiece of the second volume is Spinoza’s Theological-Political Treatise, a landmark work in the history of biblical scholarship, the first argument for democracy by a major philosopher, and a forceful defense of freedom of thought and expression. This work is accompanied by Spinoza’s later correspondence, much of which responds to criticism of the Theological-Political Treatise. The volume also includes his last work, the unfinished Political Treatise, which builds on the foundations of the Theological-Political Treatise to offer plans for the organization of nontyrannical monarchies and aristocracies. The elaborate editorial apparatus—including prefaces, notes, glossary, and indexes—assists the reader in understanding one of the world’s most fascinating, but also most difficult, philosophers. Of particular interest is the glossary-index, which provides extensive commentary on Spinoza’s technical vocabulary. A milestone of scholarship more than forty-five years in the making, The Collected Works of Spinoza is an essential edition for anyone with a serious interest in Spinoza or the history of philosophy.

This comprehensive collection of Zelda Fitzgerald’s work—including her only published novel, Save Me the Waltz—puts the jazz-age heroine in an illuminating literary perspective. Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald has long been an American cultural icon. Born in Montgomery, Alabama, this southern belle turned flapper was talented in dance, painting, and writing but lived in the shadow of her husband F. Scott Fitzgerald’s success. This meticulously edited collection includes Zelda’s only published novel, Save Me the Waltz, an autobiographical account of the Fitzgeralds’ adventures in Paris and on the Riviera; her celebrated farce, Scandalabra; eleven short stories; twelve articles; and a selection of letters to her husband, written over the span of their marriage, that reveals the couple’s loving and turbulent relationship. The Collected Writings affirms Zelda’s place as a writer and as a symbol of the Lost Generations as she struggled to define herself through her art.

The Collected Writings Of T E Hulme written by Thomas Ernest Hulme and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1994 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

This is the first collected edition of the writings of the poet, critic, and philosopher T. E. Hulme (1883-1917), a figure of huge importance in the formulation of modernist aesthetic and philosophical thought. This edition brings together for the first time all of Hulme's writings on poetry and language, philosophy, art, political theory, and the First World War. The volume includes thirteen works never before collected, such as Hulme's account of the 1911 Bologna Philosophical Congress, his essays critical of Bergson, his political writings, and his `War Notes'. It also restores to its original form and title Hulme's well-known `Humanism and the Religious Attitude', a piece which has until now only been generally available in a shortened and inaccurate version. The writings have been meticulously annotated and the edition is prefaced by an extensive biographical and critical introduction.
